RE: Which Gamecube game to buy???

my mates like these games best for multi-player:

ISS2
Super Monkey Ball
NHL Hitz

for some reason, no-one else seems to like SSB:M except me, so I usually play it 1-player. Same with Waverace, as it takes too long to get good with the controls.

I heartily recommend the top 3. Bloody Roar is also worth a look.

RE: Gamecube Jap Games

I wouldn`t risk getting a text-heavy Jap game unless you know for sure it can be changed to English - most can`t.

newageconsoles.com are good for import games, and often have a decent bargain section.

RE: Yet more Mario retro?

I don`t have a problem with the old SNES re-releases as they are generally improved, and I don`t own a SNES.

Equally, there are plenty of new titles around such as the Tony Hawks, Castlevania, Spiderman, Golden Sun etc... not to mention a new Metroid game on the way :D :D :D - oh and Duke Nukem

I expect a greater number of new all-star games to come once the focus is less heavily placed on GC development, and the quality titles (eg SMB, MarioKart) from the SNES are already out.

such a great littl piece of kit for 50 notes - and no, I don`t work for them!!! :D

RE: Pre-Owned Gamecube Games

e-bay - I picked up Luigi and NHL Hitz for about £27 each.

slightly cheaper, and reliable - www.thedvdforums.com have a general trading section with plenty of games going about probably cheaper than e-bay. I`ve traded loads of times, and most people are very reliable - especially those on the good trader thread and those with a high post count.

RE: Football game for Gamecube?

ISS2 gets much better once you practice a fair bit. The passing, shooting and through ball techniques - not to mention tackling :( take a while to master.

When you do, put the difficulty up, and it`s great fun.
Fifa 2002 is a bit poo.

Sega Soccer has decent reviews, but is more of a multiplayer game, as single-player depth is very low.

I`m hoping Winning Eleven will be as good as it can be :D

RE: Cheap Game cube games!

You will only get hit by customs via Play.com when u order R1 titles.

R2 stuff (inc GC games) are not in danger.

RE: Bored of Star Wars Rogue Leader what next for the cube?

for those with patience, Wave Race and Super Monkey Ball are truly excellent.

As for upcoming titles, get the Action Replay when it comes out, and you`ll be spoilt for choice.

I`m quite looking forward to Resident Evil, Eternal Darkness, Batman(new one) - not to mention Soul Calibur 2 and Mario Sunshine which should both be Sateside before Xmas.

RE: Help me! Which Gamecube games to buy?

Good recommendations.

However, I must point you all in the joyous direction of "Bloody Roar". I was a bit sceptical, but bought it today, and it`s Ace! I haven`t even played multiplayer yet, which will undoubtedly be even better.

Awesome graphics, speedy animations and smooth gameplay. Good learning curve too.

RE: Gamecube question...

Even better GC news:

I read an article today (which if i find again, i will link to) that says that Biohazard will NOT have pre-rendered backgrounds. It looks fantastic.

As for poor titles: Super Monkey Ball, Rogue Leader, Smash Bros. Melee, the new Spider-man game looks sweet too!

Not bad for the first few weeks purchasing, and tons more greats to come after that.

RE: Cheap import GameCube games

www.newageconsoles.com - although their hardware is expensive, I`m not sure if their games are particularly overpriced.

Why not try US e-tailers direct? Shipping isn`t that expensive at some places - and many of those that ship DVD`s do consoles too.

RE: Which "obscure" films would you like to see on DVD?

I`d like:
"Magic Cop" (Lam Ching-ying)
"Ashes of Time" (Wong Kar Wai)
No Retreat No Surrender 1,2+3:D

RE: A TV Show that should be a movie...

Smallville

I like this show more every week!

RE: Can Toshiba SD110e play VCD`s???

I have this one (multi-reg modded) and think the pic quality is superb, and has not failed to play any disc from any region.

However, Layer changes trigger a longish pause, and it won`t play any other form of video (no vcd`s then...)

Given the money back, i would probably go for a different player...

My Tosh SD110e skips - any ideas?

at various times during most films, my Tosh pauses briefly.
I thought it was just the layer change, but it does it more than once sometimes, and even on single layer (R3) discs.

It`s multi-region modified ages ago, but i don`t remember it doing it since i bought it.

I was going to get the Robocop box, but i presume it won`t handle the seamless branching very well if it can`t even play a normal film! ;(

RE: How will the premiership finish?

Liverpool
Man U
Arsenal

bottom 3:
Ipswich
Derby
Leicester

RE: Region 3 DVD

Dozens of times from DDDhouse, and very reliable
less times from Coola, slower shipping, but still good

also:
www.hivizone.com

and more links available here: http://www.dragonsdenuk.com

not that most of the discs are actually R0, but many newer, more popular titles are R3

RE: VCD`s.....are they any good?

the only problem I have is that they usually span 2 discs.

However, the quality can be very good. and hard to find titls (esp. HK ones) are available on VCD
e.g Drunken Master 2 in original language, uncut, 2.35:1

my Gen-Y cops vcd is superb!

don`t discount them, but only go for them if they are dirt cheap or the only option.

RE: Hong Kong DVD retailers.

hivizone
Pokerindustries

http://www.dragonsdenuk.com link to various shops from their (300+) reviews.

RE: Moulin Rouge from CDWOW

mine came very quickly - 2 disc set - from Canada - but posted from Hong Kong!!
Rush Hour 2 came with it for the princely sum of £19.98 :D

RE: Rush Hour Subtitles!

they should have been burnt on for that bit at the beginning

FYI - Jackie says Juntao Hai Bindoa (phoneticish!) and it just means where is Juntao - his mandarin is actually a bit choppy, and most of the non-english spoken dialogue is very simple and unimportant

RE: Could you kill your best friend?

Ive ordered a ton of discs from them, but no probs!
I have heard occasionally that they ask for a fax/scan of something to prove who you are...

maybe u just typed it wrong tho :D

RE: Extras on Region 3?

Most do not come with extras - usually not region coded either!

Some of the newer, high profile releases (eg Shaolin Soccer) come with extras - and a very few older ones (eg fist of fury)

RE: The worst layer change.

many of HKL`s dvd`s have dodgy layer changes!

is it really that hard to put it between scenes?

RE: what is the Rarest DVD to find??

Thanks to Disney - how about the Ritek "Drunken Master 2"

RE: Buying DVD`s abroad.....

Keep the Euro away!

I don`t mind importing from "Euro" countries thanks to their idiotic choice to weaken their economies - makes everything cheaper for us with the strong pound!

only a fool would join the Euro with a currency as strong as ours - especially when we have such low interest rates and expensive goods.

RE: KUNG-FU films

damn
why can`t I find those dvd`s for a fiver :(
I quite lik KFCM - (i didn`t write that review!)
and SvLama is good

oh well, have to keep searching for bargains!

RE: Recommend some good Adult DVDs

Where the boys aren`t 13

try adultdvdtalk.com for a wide range of reviews

RE: Could you please share your views of theses 3 films.

MR = very very good

JP3 & PH = very very bad

RE: KUNG-FU films

Shaolin Vs Lama is a good `un! was it VHS?

I LOVE prodigal son - the choreography is so fast and quick - especially for an "old school" style flick - and lam ching yin is superb - did u read the review of it at Dragons Den UK (link above)

RE: Shaolin Soccer - Best Movie/DVD of 2001

To buy `most` HK films go to http://www.dddhouse.com - cheap and reliable

for harder to find ones, try Pokerindustries.com or HKflix

for reviews (well over 300 at last count) go to :
http://www.dragonsdenuk.com - DVD info and various direct shopping links
