Hi all,

I bought this machine a couple of months ago (not hacked, just region 2) and was wondering if it can play vcd`s?? original`s or cd-r back up`s??? because i have seen it advertised as being able to play VCD`s and other places where there is no mention of VCD`s.i don`t have any to try on the machine yet.

Thanks

Steve

I have the Toshiba brochure for all their products (http://www.toshiba.co.uk - delivered within 2 days) and it states VCD is a media type that the 110e can handle.

You may want to visit http://www.vcdhelp.com for handy tips on creating your own VCDs.

I bought this machine, it`s excellent and it`s cheap!!

I can not understand why people buy the more expensive SD210, the only difference is the type of media it can play (so I`m lead to believe).

The actual picture and sound qualities are the same.

Has anyone actually tried to play a VCD as the intruction manual has no mention of this function. Also, has anyone found a decent brand of CDR that this player will play? I have only tried a few and the only one that works is a LG CDRW that came with my CD writer.

Bums - I should have read the brochure properly - just re-read it, and it says the `110 only handles CD and DVD, not CD-Rs, MP3s or VCDs.

Apologies - I wasn`t trying to mislead anyone.

Nurse, new glasses please :-(

I have this one (multi-reg modded) and think the pic quality is superb, and has not failed to play any disc from any region.

However, Layer changes trigger a longish pause, and it won`t play any other form of video (no vcd`s then...)

Given the money back, i would probably go for a different player...

But say for instance that you used a CD-R/RW that the SD110 could handle, e.g. the LG RW talked about earlier, and burned a film onto it making it a VCD would it then be able to play the VCD or is it only music that can play with the right CD-R/RW???

Steve

P.S. doesnt bother me that much that it can`t play VCD because i would rather have a decent, trouble free player that only played DVD and cd, than a rubbish, non stop problems player that can play SVCD, VCD, MP3 and all the rest.

How often do layer changes in a film occur???? because i was thinking about getting mine to be multi region but if it causes problems im not going to bother as i would probably only buy 5 or 6 DVD`s from other regions anyway.

The CDRW does only have music on but it plays it perfectly. I will have to try making into a VCD at the weekend if I get the time.
I got my player made multi-region by Mailuk for £20 and I have had no problems.
