RE: JVC DRM10 DVD recorder

Got mine delivered a couple of days ago and got it all set up yesterday.
I got all the relevent cables with just the batteries from the remote control missing instruction book was also pristine.
I was expecting the JVC to be a little tricky to use with reference to some of the comments I have seen on the net but I found a quick glance of the instructions and about 45 mins worth of pressing buttons to see what they did I managed to fiqure it all out easily. I also have a JVC 28" TV and the DVD remote works that as well which is a bonus as the kids are always losing the TV remote.
I have so far been using the Panasonic Ram discs 10 for £16.99 from Dixons/Currys and they have worked straight from the pack no need to format.
I cant compare the quality of the JVC to Panasonic or anything else for that matter as this is my first DVD recorder but the 2 hours mode looks as good as the original to me and the 4 hours mode is still better than my old video recorder.
So far I am very happy I was going to pay £250 + for a hard drive model but I think the JVC will do me for a couple of years and by then should be able to pick up a 250gb hard drive model for around a Ton i reckon.
Thanks again to Beatles100 for the heads up.

RE: Advice required for Best Digital Camera/Digital Video Camera to buy

I purchased a Fuji M603 about a year ago which is a 3mp stills camera with the ability to shot movies with sound at 640 x 480 30 frames per second which is VHS quality.

It is approx 9cm high,4.5cm deep and 5cm wide so will just fit in your pocket but compared to carrying round a camera and a video camera it is brilliant its only downfall is the cost of memory to shoot video at the high quality setting , I have a 512mb microdrive that will take nearly 900 3mp pictures but only 7.5minutes of video.
I am looking to purchase a 2gb drive that go for about £100 on ebay which will allow me to shot appox 30minutes of video.
The basic camera costs around £300 online and in my opinion is worth every penny

when i brought my camera last november it cost me £550 with a 512mb drive
the other good thing is memory gets cheaper and cheaper a year ago a 2gb drive would of cost £220 now approx £100 .

Help with Graphics card upgrade

Hi
I currently have a Elonex MCX Webrider PC
566MHZ Celeron
192MB sdram

I currently have a Intel(r) 82810 4MB integrated graphics card
I would like to upgrade this to either 32mb or 64mb
Should any graphics card be compatable or do I need to get a specific one if so is their any program I can run on my computer that would give me the information to know which cards would be compatable.

I know my computer is not state of the Art but I am trying to upgrade it the best I can within a very limited budget. I am not into buying the latest games but I have purchased a couple of games lately that need at least a 32mb graphics card for me to be able to play them.

Thanks for your help

Advise on upgrading SDRAM needed

I am looking to add extra Ram to my kids computer it is a 566 mhz celeron
The manual says I can upgrade using 68pin 100mhz Sdram however it says I can upgrade to 256mb if using 64bit memory or 512 if using 128bit however when I look online to buy they dont seem to mention anything about 64/128 bit.

please can someone advise me of where I can get the 128bit as I would like to upgrade to 512mb if possible.

Also I beleive I can buy 133mhz and it is backward compatable is that right.

RE: Oil Filled Radiator VS Convector heaters

I have an oil filled Delonghi Heater and it is very good it heats up quickly and as it doesnt have to continually power a fan it doesnt use as much electricity however the only draw back is the oil does smell a bit and you may need to ventilate the room a little to be honest it doesnt bother me and its better than trying to hear the TV over a convection heater. It also has a timer so you can set it to come on before you get up in the morning .

Hope the above helps

RE: Euro Disney

Hi
I have been to Euro disney 4 times in the last 3 years and my kids now 9 and 11 love it.
I would agree florida is better but disagree its cheaper I normally stay in a hotel chain called B&B in pontaut combault about 20 mins drive from Disney and its only £28 for a family of 4.
As for the park the best tip is get to the park early and get your fast passes when I was there in June this year the fast passes for thunder moutain were all sold out by 11am and the queue later that day was 90 mins and it is very satisfying only queing for 10 mins when everyone one else is in a 90 min queue. The other fast pass that sells out is Peter pan its nothing special but worth a ride with a fast path but dont queue 2 hours like some mad people. You are only allowed to have two fast passes at a time so if by chance there is an attendant giving out fast passes with you only having to show you tickets and not place them in the machine ( happens when they are very busy) these will not count against the two you are allowed .
In the two days you will get chance to do it all but with your children aged as they are dont bother with toad hall or the snow white ride.
The other excellent thing that alot of people miss is in the Studios park there is ( cant remember the name) a tv studio tour as you walk out of the big hanger turn left just by the band stand I think you go through and see a tv studio set nothing special however at the end of the tour is a play area you will see a roped of area to some indoor simulators you show the attendant you ticket and you get to design a rollar coaster and then ride it Brillant.
Also in the studio park there is a animation studio cant think of its name straight ahead out of big hanger just before the trolley tour when you come out of the show there is a man teaching you to draw disney charactors my kids loved it and if you ask the man he will sign and give you the picture he draws on the big board a cheap and excellent souvenir of you trip.

Hope these comments are of use sorry I cant remember the names of the rides have a great trip you will love it and so will the kids.

Also if you ever get chance another time go to Parc Astrix we went for the first time this year and it was brillant especially for kids age about 8 to 14 some really different rides plus 3 or 4 shows and about half the price of disney.

RE: MG ZS 120 or Astra 1.8 SRI

A pocket rocket Clio sounds great however 2 problems

1. french cars are unrealiable see auto express driver power survey
2. I am married with 2 kids hence it needs to be able to get us all in plus luggage
3. I am only able to afford insure up to group 12 as I live near london otherwise I would of considered the Octavia RS and the MG 180 ZS

Thanks to everyone for there input so far I have had a barter today with my local MG garage and they are offering a 52 plate metalic silver 120 with air con and upgraded Monaco interior for £9895 with delivery milage only. I will ponder this for a day or so but it seems a good deal and its a nice looking car particually with the Monaco leather interior.

Cheers

MG ZS 120 or Astra 1.8 SRI

I may be mad and I know everyone can recommend a car but I have narrowed it down to 2 but am undecided which, 8) I prefer the looks of the MG to the Astra but the Astra gets a better write up.
Are you an owner of either able to comment or reccomend !! or just someone who has an opinion as to which has the better street cred

Any comments welcome

Thanks
