Page 1 of Sainsburys Mico R311 DVD Recorder - Now £49.99 (And some Home Theatre also)

Just been for a bit of late night shopping at my local Sainsburys (London E4) and found that the refurbished Mico R311 DVD+RW Recorders have been further reduced from £84.99 to £49.99. As I didn`t own a DVD recorder of any kind , at that price it seemed rude not to buy one :D
Question for anybody that has already got one of these models - which media works best on it (both +R and +RW) ?

In addition to this , there were a few cheap(ish) 5.1 Home Theatre systems

Plustron DS304 (bit ugly with display on DVD and Subwoofer) for £49.99
Mico Siglo T120 (Super Slim better looking) for £53.49
For about £75 (didn`t note the exact price) they had a very nice looking (for the price) Mico Tower 21 system - Vertical or Horizontal operation, cool display , nice looking speakers , slot-in loader and RDS Tuner

God that recorder is a bargain!! Anyone seen any in Lincs, Norfolk, or anywhere on the way from there to Leighton Buzzard? :D We dont have any big Sainsburys round here.

I would buy a spare or two at that price, it was a bargain last year @ £199, the price is truely ridiculous & all the better for that. :)

G Man-use RW (re-writables) for any day to day type recording (In other words, as you would use your VCR) and just use +R`s for recording `Keepers`.

Re-Writable compatibility is a little patchy, but every recording I`ve made on my Mico has worked fine on my other DVD players. With the +R discs, remember to finalise them when you`ve got everything recorded otherwise you will run into problems of them not playing on other players...other than that, compatibility with +R discs is very high indeed.

Oh well, I`ve tried about 6 stores and the customer helpline, none of them have a clue what I`m talking about :( Guess there aren`t any outside London to be had.

Hey, I`ve got a big store near me, and the last time I checked they had a stackful so just a question of price - got £5 off £50 vouchers mailed to me last night too so wonder if I can just nab this at £45 - okay, I might have to buy a pint of milk to take it over £50 but hey, that`s life.

Just out of interest, where do you live? Though I am convinced there wont be one within 200 miles of me :D

Just rang my local store (I`m in the manchester area) to be told they do have the recorder in stock, but not the refuburished ones meaning they are still scanning at £149.99.
Bummer!

Well, I`m in the London area but the last time I checked they were still priced up at £84.99, hence the stack of them so will verify if now dropped to £49.99 at my local. I will report back overnight, if they have dropped in price and how many they have on shop floor/in stock - didn`t look as if anyone was in a hurry to buy them as they were very clearly labelled `refurbished`.

Nowhere near me, just my luck :(
