Don,t know much about bikes but I purchased Raleigh Cayman with
Shimano Deore components for £249.00(half price) last year. These are great components and last very well. Sounds like the Fury is a bit of a bargain.

Let me know which one you buy imy and what you think. The fury is a real steal I have the 2000 model I have given it some real hammer (but have look after it well) it cost me £550 and it was a bargin then. If you are intrested I purcahsed a set of shimano wheels reduced from £110.00 for the rear and £100.00 for the front for less than half price! a real bargin I was going to buy them for £210!!!!!

Hello Wayne, I have also been recently visiting Halfords to look for a mountain bike. - I noticed that you have listed the offers on your posting and these differ from that of my local Halfords store. - I am interseted in the Carrera Fury that you had listed as £550 reduced to £294... In my local store the price for this bike was £599 reduced to £399. Can you confirm the price for me, it may save me 100 quid! Ta Dave.

P.S in answer to your question, try the local specialised bike shops. They may not be able to offer the bulk discounts that the likes of Halfords can offer, but i`m sure you`ll find that they`ll offer more spec and choice for your requirements and budget.

They do have stores as well but only in the south . unfortunatley there is a postage charge on the web site .

I bought my son a bike last year for his birthday from there + the P&P it worked out to at least about tenner less than Halfords or JB Sports cheapest offerings (sale items etc).

Brand new unmarked\undamaged & assembled easily in about 30 mins - Caught the lil man totally by surprise when he came home from swimming. :D

Yes I bought the one for £48 including delivery. I got a free ungrade to the one with twist grip gear change which should have been £10 more. I did have to buy a new sadle and I had the bearings go in one peddle after only a few months but still good for the money.

I was going to get the mrs one but she needed one next day so got here a unisex one from Halfords for £75. I`m having problems getting a mudguard to fit the rear its a Y frame I think? Seats at the lowest setting so cant fit to seat pole?

Darn It! - I just got a girls bike Raleigh Max for £89.99 - over week-end from specialist shop. Wish I`d seen this first. :(

I had tried Halfords - but the guys in shop knew nothing and the prices no cheaper - only thing Halfords had their own colours for bikes made by Raleigh. Thanks for the link Mico Man. I`ll try them out for the other kids bike (due for upgrade soon).
