Just binge watched all 6 episodes and while it was never going to be a patch on the original (not much could compare to be fair) i really enjoyed it, casting was great and writing pretty good, really enjoyed the Mr Makay character and the 2nd episode and last one with the prisoners reacting to the radio was fun :)

"The original Porridge creators return with a weak, watery throwback to the Ronnie Barker classic. This isn’t a sequel, it’s a forgery … bang ’em up this instant"

Haven't seen it yet but saw the review earlier
EDIT
As usual, links don't show as links, you'll have to cut & paste :-(

I remember trying to watch the pilot/1 off they did a while ago, I think as part of that season of remakes/modern takes of classics, I think we switched off after 5 mins, couldn't get into it.

What you have to do is stick a [ URL ] at the front and a [ /URL ] at the back of your htpps link. (Note take out the spaces either side of the URL and /URL, as I had to show it that way, not to work)
As for a new Porridge with different actors not seen it, but as usual a new version of a classic TV sitcom is very hard act to follow, like the TV 'Open all hours' sequel (gave that up as not funny) and Film version of Dads Army using new actors (switched it off after twenty minutes).
Best just to watch reruns of the originals.

Tried the pilot when it was aired a few months back and had to give up half way through to go and uncurl my toes.
Nearly as awful as Still Open All Hours.

I was looking on the iPlayer & this is listed as "only available for the next 12 days" so I thought, what the hell, give it a go. Managed to get through 1 & a 1/2 episodes before turning it off. Not only are they repeating the original plots but repeating the same jokes too. Disappointed but not surprised.
