At the age of 60. An amazing footballer and definitely controversial character.

Wow. Lots of health issues (mainly self inflicted) but still a shock.

The sad thing about this is that it will give English media the chance to play endless clips of the 'hand of God'.
He was worth far, far more than that.

I am not young enough to know everything.
I had the privilege of watching him at Hamden against Scotland in 1979, watched the Argentine team walk out to the pitch and said to my pal, that wee boy 18 I think he was is in for a long game, he was tiny next to everyone else and we had a good hard team, well he ran us ragged, made 2 scored 1 (his 1st international goal) and what a performance it was, I remember he left big Hansen spinning so much he ended up flat on the pitch and this was him at his absolute best, after the game I again mentioned to my pal (we were 13) he's no a bad player, might see him in Europe one day, well I always had an eye for a player LOL
RIP Sir, you left an enduring mark on the game you loved.

Watched the world cup game highlights again as it was on a telly documentary, with the controversial 'hand of god' goal, but had forgot his famous goal by dribbling around the English players as though they were standing still, which was quite amazing. He was a brilliant player in his day.
