Gentleman Jack is pretty good, neat or with a mixer :) Not sure it's worth the "normal" £33, but £10 reduction makes it a good buy, imho much better than JD No. 7, much smoother, I'd buy this again, when it's reduced :)

Whisky and red wine for me!

Admars - Cardhu Gold Reserve is on offer at Amazon; £24.99 down from £44.

Laphroaig Brodir is my current favourite.  Belvenie Double Wood is another frequent bottle in my house!

thanks, Cardhu gold rotates who has it for £25, you'd be mad to spend any more than that on it :)

Belvenie has been on my wish list for a while since a friend recommended it to me, sadly unlike most of the other brands in the supermarket, that one is never on special offer.

When I was in London yrs ago,I stayed in a hotel in Kensington and they had a lovely olde English pub and I figure I buy a bottle of wine there ,it cost me about 15 a red wine sorry don't remember the name but it gave me a sour tummy and a dry taste.sadly my guest thought so too.I should of bought it while I was at Harrods but I fear I would of drop it on my way back to hotel., had went shopping few packages to carry.

Wild Turkey is pretty damn good stuff, that may be my fave bourbon right now!

Gentleman Jack is good, Woodford Reserve is good, but not quite as nice as the Gentleman jack, neither worth the normal retail price compared to Wild Turkey, which is smooth and full of flavour, that had a few quid knocked off so I bought that to give it a go, one of the few spirits I've had I think I'd actually pay proper price for!

had some Kraken black rum the other day for the first time, had read good things about it. That was good, won't tempt me from whisky/whiskey but was much nicer than Capt Morgan's spiced. Kraken was good neat or with coke, Capt Morgan's spiced needs a mixer.

Thanks Admars, Will have to have a go at that Kraken black rum, it sounds Crakin, he he.

My usual rum is either Black heart rum or Captain Morgans Caribbean rum mixed with diet coke or pepsi max.

Just add my two pen'th for Planters Punch.

The only way dark rum should have any connection with coke is when it's burning in the fire you're drinking by.

Reminds me of a story a foreign friend told me when on holiday in Scotland, he asked for a whisky and coke, the barman looked at him and said

"you'll drink your whisky neat, or with water water, or not at all".
