It`s only because central Governement funding is being cut so the councils retaliate

Good riddance to the ones clearly situated in revenue making places.
But many do help (dodgy junctions etc.)
I`d like to buy an old one and situate it next to my house, where the 30mph limit appears to be at drivers` discretion. >:(

This is the best news I have heard for ages, I hope all counties get shot of them.

Where most cameras are located are just revenue earners, and cause drivers to distract there attention watching out for them, rather than watching traffic and pedestrians.

It is also a double whammy, because not only do you get hit for a fine but also lose 3 points, which in turn, ups your insurance premiums, so the insurance is laughing and getting more money, if you went just a little bit above the speed limit. Crazy !

The worst cameras are those SPECS type, that use average speed, they cause total havoc. I have seen cars crawling at 25MPH just to average out their speed, after going through the first cameras at high speed for a while, Also seen cars right up behind lorries to avoid getting their plates read, a most dangerous manouver. Also severe braking without thought.

Again Speed cameras cause really dangerous actions by motorists, and distract them from driving properly. Time they were binned.

I wonder if this is one of those policies that sounded good when they thought it up, but could prove problematic in future if road deaths do rise.

Apparently Swindon (least I think it was Swindon?) removed a whole load 6 months ago and hasn`t seen an increase in deaths. This could of course be because people haven`t really noticed they are gone yet.

Bloody good idea.
95% of them are just revenue streams.

I wouldn`t get your hopes up too high though. The Gov will probably start funding them centrally. At the moment the local authorities pay for them and the Gov grabs the dosh.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

I`ve yet to see one that is not in a revenue position.
