Trailer for the new Star Trek movie- WOW!

pat-w (Elite) posted this on Sunday, 5th April 2009, 16:00

I just looking around at Play.com, they have some daft stuff listed such as a Star Trek Captains Chair (which costs £1500!! :o ) anyway, the point of this post, the trailer for the new Star Trek is on the same page.

It looks great!
I wasn`t even looking forward to seeing this, tbh i though the last few Star Trek movies weren`t very good.

This may also be rubbish, but having seen the trailer, I`m now going to see this at the cinema.
Here`s the link

As a fan of Heroes (even if it hasn`t matched the heights of the first season), I can`t wait to see Sylar as Spock!

I`m not sure whether to see this - I`ve never seen an episode of the show or a full film (I seem to remember something about Spock and a whale?). Is it something designed to be accessible to complete newbies, or do you need to have a working knowledge of Star Trek (characters, time etc)?

No, it`s definitely for newbies. JJ Abrams hadn`t even seen much of Star Trek before taking the gig, and looked upon it as a fresh start for the characters. It`s very much an introductory film, which appeals to both Trekkies and non-Trekkies. I`m not a Star Trek fan, but this looks ace.

Yep, looks worth the popcorn even allowing for the fact they could make Mr Deeds goes to Town look like the Godfather on a trailer.

I`ve just been reading Harry Knowles geeking out about Paramount substituting the new Star Trek picture for his screening of Wrath of Khan in Austin Texas. Bless.

All of a sudden I`m quite stoked myself about the movie after months of "meh"

I`m just a Star Trek whore. Sigh.

I`m willing to bet that there were some Trekkies who were a bit peeved at missing Wrath of Khan for the millionth time... :B

As long as it includes a hint of Alexander Courage`s Trek theme, I`m a happy bunny.

BTW, what are other folks` favourite bits of Trek music? Apart from Alexander Courage`s "Space. The Final Frontier" piece, I also love Jerry Goldsmith`s Motion Picture/ Star Trek V theme (not so much the edit of it used on the Next Gen series). I`ve a soft spot for James Horner`s scores for Khan and Search For Spock - particularly the Battle in the Mutara Nebula from Khan - even if it includes his signature pieces recycled in The Rocketeer and Titanic.
