try this link

RE: Nero and MPG`s

i think just make them as vcd`s and then it is up to how you have set up your pc. just tick to box to always play this type of disc when the box pops up after inserting a disc

RE: Recording streams

i use winmpg for video capture, but it does have an option for time shifting, not that i`ve ever used it.

RE: Password Protection of Folder in Win XP home

you could always zip it and make it password protected or always make a backup.

RE: passwords

my brother did this weeks ago when i was away and has said he can`t remember, git.

i also bought the machine second hand, so no proof of ownership.

so i take it the machine is buggered!

RE: Great lyrics.

I`ve got a bike. You can ride it if you like.
It`s got a basket, a bell that rings and
Things to make it look good.
I`d give it to you if I could, but I borrowed it.
You`re the kind of girl that fits in with my world.
I`ll give you anything, ev`rything if you want things.
I`ve got a cloak. It`s a bit of a joke.
There`s a tear up the front. It`s red and black.
I`ve had it for months.
If you think it could look good, then I guess it should.
You`re the kind of girl that fits in with my world.
I`ll give you anything, ev`rything if you want things.
I know a mouse, and he hasn`t got a house.
I don`t know why. I call him Gerald.
He`s getting rather old, but he`s a good mouse.
You`re the kind of girl that fits in with my world.
I`ll give you anything, ev`rything if you want things.
I`ve got a clan of gingerbread men.
Here a man, there a man, lots of gingerbread men.
Take a couple if you wish. They`re on the dish.
You`re the kind of girl that fits in with my world.
I`ll give you anything, ev`rything if you want things.
I know a room of musical tunes.
Some rhyme, some ching. Most of them are clockwork.
Let`s go into the other room and make them work.

RE: Multi-regional dvd players

got this as a present for work, multi regional out of the box. would play dvd+r but not vcd`s.

or just check out the multi region hacks section for a player that you can change.

as to the tv, most modern tv`s will play NTSC with out any problems. mine was a cheap one from tesco`s and i`ve never had any problems.

RE: Weekend project - Quick & dirty method required to

saw this and it might help, i have done it with pocket pc using DVD to PPC and that is easy.

RE: exporting dvd player to different country

try this site you may find the information that you need there

RE: How do I connect my PC to my HiFi??

is this for inputing to the pc or outputing to the hifi?

outputing should be easy. connect from the speaker socket on the pc to the aux connections on the hifi and anything played on the pc should be sent throught the hifi.

inputing i think is imposible with out a caputre card of some type. i have a belkin usb capture box that i`ve connected to a video and also to a turn table.

took a bit of fiddling with settings, but did manage to caputre reasonable sound quality through the turn table.

RE: Underworld Unrated Version - UK Release?

if an region 2 version is anything like the region 1 version (which i was really looking forward to), then there is not a lot noticably extra in the film. the r1 version boasts 23 minutes of extra and recut material, apart from the odd scene extra, there is not a great deal that turns an entertaining film into anything special by being extended.

RE: NTL Broadband Connection Failure - Help Please?

occationally my connection fails and i use the repair option in control panel - network connections- repair

this has sorted out problems when rebooting failed to correct a nonexistant connection or a really slow one

RE: .rmm File conversion

the only softwear i have ever found that will convert .rm is "eo video". not a very friendly program, but it will allow batch encoding.
hope this helps.

RE: Burnt dvds sticking problem

i feel i have to jump in on the defence of nero. a lot of people out there do not like the software, but i`ve never had any problems. in fact, i think most of my costers were my own fault, when i decided to "play" around with settings.
i have had playback problems when i`ve used software such as DVD Decrypter and TMPGEnc Dvd Author to burn. mainly the disc will not play at all.

but burning dvdr`s at 2.4 speed seems to work with any type of blank media. granted i use dvd+r`s and have never had any problems with playback on any stand alone dvd player.

as to the media, well the cheapest i can find, what ever the make. i have found that if you limit the size of the disc to around 4.2gb then that seems to limit the playback problems and picilation problems due to the poor spread of the dye.

so my recomendation is slower burn speed and limit the disc size.

RE: What DVD-R Discs Do not work??????????????????

Granted, I`m using dvd+, but i`ve had no problems playing my discs on any stand alone dvd player, as long as I only burn with Nero. Other burning softwear such as the bundled one with Tmpgenc dvd author just makes costers for my players. But not a hitch with Nero.

As to cheapo disc`s. i use the cheapest i can get (around £14 for 25 from Big Pockets) and have no prolems as long as i limit their size to around 4.20gb. It has something to do with the unstable ink spread on the cheap one`s, you get ridges and/or not enough ink spread to the outer edge.

I`ve also gotten around to checking is these discs will play in the ps2 and they do. both the authored discs i`ve made and the copys.

RE: Pop Unders - how can I stop them??

pop up stopper works for stopping most types of pop up`s/unders whatever. a search for panicwear should bring up the company, or search download.com. it`s free.

RE: Sexiest scene ever... WTFF???

i agree that these programs are compleate and utter sh**e, but the sexiest scenes ever, must be the old flake ads.

RE: leadtek winfast tv card- no sound from the card?

have you got a muted setting? try the volume setting just in case.
i had a problem with my sound out, it was very quiet when outputting to a tv, the problem turned out to be a dodgy connector.

RE: Hairstyle websites? A request by the girlfriend...

i`m almost embarrised to admitte that i got a link for you. so i must explain...

my wife and myself are off to a ball at the end of the month and guess who is going to be helping her `do` her hair? yes me. so i`ve been looking for something that i can actually make look half decent.

not found anything yet. but i`m way up there in the brownie point stakes just for looking for her.

RE: internet issues, please advise!

kazaa takes a lot of bandwidth, so if you are running it in the back ground, expect the internet to go at dial up speed.

try an internet speed test like mcadee with kazaa running and with it not.

RE: VHS to CD

you can change the settings on the Belkin so that it does compress. i`ve used divx mpeg4 codec and several others and a 90 file went from 25gb uncompressed to 400ish mb.

RE: Video casette converting or whatever I mean (dunno myself)

if they are true NTSC tapes then there are a lot of cheap players that will output NTSC with out the need for a NTSC tv. when i tryed to view a similar tape years before i got a NTSC player the picture was almost unwatchable, so as a guess i might think your player is NTSC but your tv is not. but then again i am guessing.

RE: Christmas Shopping, Hardest thing in the world! What do you buy the Mrs?

my wife has expensive tastes, my own fault really for spoiling her. being of welsh decent, she had always wanted welsh gold, so as soon as i had the money i started to get her a peice each year. this has now started to get a bit pricey and silly. but it is nice and she is VERY happy when she opens those presents on christmas morning.

try this site and have a look.

did you know that it is only 50 days to christmas.....

RE: Automation Light Dimmer...

i did wonder what this was and just looked onthe web site, pretty cool...

i got an ordinary remote dimmer switch i got from B&Q years ago, cost about £25.

RE: VHS to CD

was a bit p*****d when i found that my graphics card did not have a video in, and was a bit loath to get a new card with video in/out, so ended up getting a BELKIN VIDEOBUS USB CAMCORDER CONNECTOR
it is just a box with composite/s-video and audio inputs. you can link it up to almost any analoge or digital source. works a treat with a video. just needed to get a scart connector. i found mine in pc world.
hope this helps

RE: Yes! Alex Cross is back!

i have to wait until christmas to read that one. my grandmother nagged me about what to get me for christmas, and i told her that one and four blind mice, so on spoilers please.

next on my reading list is the Lake House, got that a few weeks back.

is it just my or is James Patterson a really sick puppy?

RE: Portable DVD that does it all?

had my regular news letter from dabs.com today, they had a portable dvd for £190, which seems to be the cheapest i`ve seen.
