    Synopsis:
The Stargate is an intergalactic gateway, developed by an ancient civilization, that links other planets from other solar systems to ours. The U.S. Air Force assembles a Stargate team headed by Colonel Jack O`Neill (Richard Dean Anderson of "MacGyver") for interstellar peace-keeping missions. Boasting incredible special effects sequences, rapid-fire pacing and awesome scenes of alien warfare, Stargate SG-1 is your gateway to pulse-pounding, sci-fi action!

Pilot Episode: Children of the Gods
As Colonel Jack O`Neill and his team journey to Abydos to confront deadly warriors and laser-firing Death Gliders, O`Neill realizes that this new mission seems hauntingly familiar and that an old enemy has returned to take his revenge on Earth.

    Episode One: The Enemy Within
In this suspenseful tale of `survival of the fittest`, O`Neill and the SG-1 team must attempt to remove a Goa`uld larvae that has infected Kawalsky`s brain... but time is running out!

    Episode Two: Emancipation
On the planet of Simarka, where the fierce race of Shavadi mistreat females, Carter challenges their misgynistic ways in a thrilling battle-of-wits that may bring women equity or forever keep them as second-class citizens.

Being a fan of the series I pre-ordered this DVD. When it arrived I placed the DVD on my Samsung 709 and the Stargate intro began. The disc is split into three episodes, one being the pilot and episode one and two from season one. The video quality is good on all three but on the box it says the screen format is standard but in fact it`s widescreen. The sound is clear and crisp although its only 2 channel surround sound. The opening titles on episode one and two have been changed instead of the Ra mask like the opening titles of the film. The pilot have been given a rating of R which I think means 18 because a couple of scenes in there. One being the moment when Daniels wife gets infected with Goa`uld larvae with no clothes on, and the other when Kawalsky gets infected too. I can remember both these scenes being cut down when it was shown on Sky1 and Channel 4. Now for the extras, there isn`t any! It would have been nice to have extras on the dvd like behind the scenes or even a trailer but no nothing. If you love the series and haven`t got on video then this dvd is for you. If you want a changed from Star Trek then try this, but if got the video then don`t bother as there are no extras.

The movie length episode, Children of the Gods makes for an excellent link between the original movie and the TV Series, very enjoyable to watch, and the 2 episodes on this DVD are excellent in the beginning of the building of the characters that make up SG1, highly recommended.
