Page 3 of Twitter being Musked

I inevitably started a Mastodon account and I used this server recommendation by a trusted twitterer (this will go straight to signup and have you follow Mike Galsworthy):

Just thought the best thing to do was to jump in and learn on the job. Not necessarily leaving twitter yet but let's see how it all goes.

I don't think for most it's a leaving Twitter issue straight away for most people but more of getting the lifeboat ready in case the ship does go down.

It's obviously got it's own pluses and minuses which we will learn as we go.

About the same length of time it takes me to update the codebase.

I did join Mastodon once, but my login seems to have gone, and also I don't get along with the whole multiple server thing. People I want to follow are spread across different servers.

I'm picking up follows as they announce on Musk's mess that they have a Mastadon acct and it doesn't matter which server they are on.

I'd have to look for it but someone posted up a link to a prog that checks which of your twitter follows have an account there.

Reading about the latest Musking he seems to be doing a Boris Johnson at Liz Truss speed.

That could mean so many things 😂

So far from what I can tell, people are parodying like crazy with blue ticks, which is annoying official accounts, and in turn advertisers who have already pulled out en-mass whilst they wait to see what he does with the place.

Also, huge economic downturn in the US and UK...

Great time to buy a company when you have zero experience of running an internet business, or taking over an existing one. Making something new, you can throw things at the wall and see what sticks, but do that with your existing userbase and people get angry and leave.
