There's definitely something going on here with this drip drip drip of leaks, but I have zero sympathy and you can't pretend not to know if something is against the rules if you're the person dictating the rules be made in the first place.

Ignorance of the law is not a defence, even if they were rules rather than the actual law...

Sources close to Red Wall Tory MPs confirmed that the tipping point was the big budget, big production, Led By Donkeys Line of Duty parody video posted on Twitter earlier today. Caused a panicked flurry of letters flying in to the 1926 Committee.

Context is everything, and when put in that kind of stark reality, parody or not, it's clear his position is no longer tenable. Not that it ever was.

When fines were being handed out, and wedding receptions being 'raided' and shut down, I'm pretty sure they felt like laws.

Either Boris Johnson is lying and he knew it was a party.

Or he's so impenetrably dense it takes him 25 minutes to realise that tables with food plus drink plus people knocking back booze is a party.

Both options make him unfit to lead.

I can't argue with that...

Possibly the best indicator yet of the way feeling in the Tory party is going.

The 1922 committee are discussing whether to reduce the time allowed between votes of no confidence from twelve months to six months.

And now talk of blackmail against Tory MPs trying to oust Johnson.

The really depressing thing is the amount of time, energy and cost trying to save the personal ambitions of a lying narcissist not fit for the office in the first place.

Chucking every last covid restriction out of the window to appease angry right-wing 'libertarian' covid denying backbenchers and keep them on side tells you that saving his arse is more important than protecting vulnerable citizens.
