RE: [VIDEO] David Bowie dead.
One of my greatest musical heroes. I was almost late for work this morning after hearing the news. It totally threw me. Bloody cancer Again!!!
RE: [VIDEO] David Bowie dead.
Gutted, he influenced so many of my musical heroes during the New Romantic scene.
RIP David

I was never a huge fan of his however I was fully aware of his influence on the music scene.

I wrote something similar this morning.
Then you spend a day being hit from all sides with Bowie tributes and tracks even on news programs and you realise he had a damn sight more to do with your life than you thought.
Normally after a day like that, when someone of that significance has died I feel thoroughly mourned out and wish it would all go away. Half an hour ago I'm heading home with a live version of Space Oddity blowing the windows out.
At just over 4 years older than me he's just always been there and so many of his songs are woven into the fabric of my life.
They still will be and just maybe a deeper appreciation is growing.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary
RE: [VIDEO] David Bowie dead.
David Bowie seemed not to know what nostalgia meant.
Epitomising living in the moment.
And then dying in the moment.
RIP

Have you never seen the film 'labyrinth'?
with the brilliant 'Dance baby dance' routine
We all sat down last night and just watched this magical DVD, which is one in my collection. Wife, Daughter and I got up to dance to the music. (youngest son got embarrassed, and left the room) ha ha.

The Labyrinth soundtrack actually has some decent tracks on it. Everyone knows Magic Dance, but I really like Underground, As the Word Falls Down and Within You.
I can't profess to be a massive Bowie fan, but when I think about it there are a surprising number of tracks that I know and like. I'm actually more familiar with his 80s output (Let's Dance, Fashion, China Girl, Ashes to Ashes, and of course the Labyrinth stuff) than his earlier works, but that's probably because I grew up listening to it and only really heard his back catalogue when I was older. I didn't pay a lot of attention to music in the seventies, beyond Disney soundtracks and Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds, which my grandfather used to play seemingly to scare me to death!

RE: [VIDEO] David Bowie dead.
David Bowie owned the 70s and I think his pre-Ziggy (Hunky Dory) and post-Ziggy (Young Americans/StationtoStation/Low/Heroes) are his best.
Let's Dance could be (yet another) completely different artist.
Try and see the Five Years documentary.
It was a joy to see Carlos, Dennis and Earl reminiscing and playing.

My 22 year old still wont watch Labyrinth again after being scared by it when her older (only 2 years) sister watched it years ago.
Mind you neither of them will watch The Witches (Angelica Huston)
