Fill out your census NOW

Pete-MK (Elite Donator) posted this on Sunday, 27th March 2011, 21:26

Hopefully you`ve done it already, but today is the day the census is relevant. Just done mine online and it was a breeze. Some of the questions I had to fillout for Max and Luke made me think the website wasn`t really paying attention.

Maxwell, you`re just over a year old. How many hours a week do you spend looking after someone with learning difficulties?

I was sorely tempted to enter, under the question "What is your main language?" the answer; `None, I`m a f***ing baby`

Yeh, it was a straight forward enough to do the census on-line.

At least it was not so nosey this time, due to todays privacy laws.

At least they did not ask for your salary details, in a range of salary bands, tick here sort of thing.

PS..That question was either in the last UK or Australian census 10 or 20 years ago, I filled in, as having duel nationality, but it was so far back I can`t remember which had that nosey question, but I was very annoyed at the time.

I am sure it was in Oz, as there was a further question...`what is your main means of support` and everyone wrote ...LEGS :D

Forgot it yesterday, but will fill it out online later this morning, basing my answers on yesterday, which I`m sure will be ok.

Load of intrusive bollocks.
Supposedly to help shape the future services and funds etc when they can`t even get it right for the information they have already and are cutting left right and centre.

Only thing this will do is help relatives in a century or so to find out who we all were.

It`s just another Big Brother tactic to get information and if it wasn`t, participation would be voluntary...the threat of the £1K fine had my poor mum a little upset that she would get hit for it because she didn`t fill it out yesterday so I just did it online now.

BTW Sue, it states "On or around the 27th" so doing it tonight with yesterdays answers must be fine :)

People have been filling them out online for a couple of weeks already.
Where does that leave the stats with the inevitable deaths from sudden causes I wonder.

Intrusive bollocks? Probably.
But in line with our species obsession for counting, tabulating and recording every damn thing.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

Not according to this article...

Quote:
3. No space to put middle names

Another point raised by respondents was the lack of space to disclose a middle name. Prior to 2011, the 10-year census used to be an important resource for people tracing their family history and researching genealogy.

Now, for confidentiality reasons, ONS has said that they will not share your personal information with any other government department or organisation. The information you provide is only used for statistical purposes and names are not used in any published statistics from the census. The questionnaire only asks for first and last names to help ensure everyone is included.

Precisely what I noticed too.
Surely whoever designed the online form could have set up default `jumps` depending on the DOB entered?
Asking a 2 year old whether they drive to school?
Or look after infirm relatives?
For god`s sake... :/
