Jeffery Deaver - The Bone Collector
I`d read this one, and 2 other Lincoln Rhyme books before, but a while ago started reading all Deaver`s book`s in order he wrote them. So far the Rhyme was stand out as the best

I recently finished Howard Marks - Mr Nice, which was ok, but too many adventures were all a bit samey.

Read Dexter 1-4 before that. Well worth reading. TV series is very different. TV Series one main story is loosely based on book 1, but after that, completely different.

Not read much fiction lately, so am currently reading `Pink Flag by Wire` in the Continuum 33 1/3 series. And dipping in and out of Charlie Brooker....

Just read Terry Pratchets Mort whilst on holiday, loved it :D

The read a book my daughter got from the library, Hannah Goes To War, based on the start of the 2nd world war from the point of view of a little girl growing up near Swansea.

What a good but extremely sad book. Don`t know whether it was the story or that it is set in a location I know very well, but christ I was crying like a baby that`s just had its sweets taken away.

All the best

Gerald.

think I have pretty much read all of hunter s thompson, and fear and loathing more than once. I quite fancy getting "somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert" as a tattoo, as I get a tattoo every three years and I am due.

thanks for the recommendations, there are a smattering of authors that I have read before, so who likes who and what is handy.

Another part of a trilogy that I enjoyed was The Strain by Guillermo del Toro. Which you are probably aware of already.

I read that recently aswell is the next part due out soon?  I believe they are making it into a tv show also.  I really liked it although it did lose me a bit towards the end.

I`ve read Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and The Rum Diary of Hunter S Thompson which I really enjoyed, but only got a bit into Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail, should have got the Hell`s Angels one first (think Whoot actually said this to me on the previous thread).

I`m just starting The Dice Man at the moment, purely as I`d heard about it a few times and it really intrigued me, although from reviews I think it`s a bit hit and miss with it having a cult following.

Over the last year or so..
Books by Simon Kernick, Lee Child (Jack Reacher), Stieg Larsson (Tattoo..), Peter James (Roy Grace) and Jim Butcher (Dresden) - amongst others.

Literally just finished The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.  OMFG.  Anybody else read it?  Supposedly quite a famous book (bestseller for years) but I`d not even heard of it. :(
In summary, it`s a story about a girl and her family and friends in Nazi Germany - narrated by `Death`.
Incredible, beautiful, moving, colours and words...  deep breaths and tears.  It`s really not as dark as that subject matter may allude to.  Some of the metaphors just make you re-read a passage and really make you think.
Anyone else read it - what did you think?
For those who do read but haven`t read it - please do, put it on your list and post back your thoughts too.
