HMV April DVD Sale

Wedge G (Elite) posted this on Tuesday, 27th March 2001, 20:31

Hi,

I don`t know if this is being rolled out in stores, but http://www.hmv.co.uk are running a new April promotion, where 180 DVD`s have been knocked down to between £9.99 and £12.99 (excluding p+p)

If this is in stores as well, I can see them running out of stock pretty quick.

Seems like quite a good selection, most being £12.99 rather than £9.99, its a shame they are quite older titles!

Some very good offers here, how much is postage though?

Cheers,

There`s a fairly decent selection there. Although they`re all films that I have seen and am not all that bothered about owning on DVD. The only one that really grabs my attention is "The Thing". I would normally stay away from retailers like HMV but I have a £10 voucher that I got for my birthday so I suppose now I`ve got a reason to trundle down there.
I have found (in my limited DVD buying experiences) that Asda and Blockbusters tend to do fairly decent prices on DVD`s. Sometimes beating the competition by a pound or two. For instance Blockbusters had blade for a tenner long before any of the others stores followed.

Have just spoken to my local HMV -Bath - and the sale starts instore tomorrow (Thursday) but each store will only have a selection of the 180 titles. 2 of the 3 I wanted - EDtv and Edward Scissorhands - won`t be stocked by the Bath store so I advise calling before you make the trek to the shop.

I`ve just been into HMV in Cardiff and they have the discs under there `40% off` offer. Final Destination was 45% off so it was only £10.99. Loads of others although nothing else took my fancy!

Just picked up The Fifth Element for £12.99, the cheapest I have seen the R2 disc including the web. Not bad, but I would never touch HMV normally, their prices are outrageous. Still, not complaining about this bargain, especially as I`ve been after the disc for a while.

As a side note, the disc was on sale in my local ASDA the other day. Usually £15.99, the disc had been discounted to £15.97! I was sorely tempted by that dramatic reduction I can tell you...
