Problem With DTS on Wharfedale 750 & Sony STR DE445

I have one of the original Wharfedale 750, No DTS logo, only Dolby Digital. I was lead to belive thought that all Wharfys could play DTS sound. I have mine linked into my Sony AV Reciever and am also using a digital coaxil. I can play DD no problems what so ever, but when I select DTS on Gladiator Disc for example, NO SOUND. I have checked manual on AMP, feel certain there is no issues there, checked manual on DVD and have Sound Stream set to BIT, so I believe no issues there.

Please Help?

I have tried this with jpg`s and it comes up with the error message

Need MPEG1which was encoded for Video CD.

I have version 4.7.0.8.

I think it would be a good idea if a list of all Region 1 discs that have RCE encoding on them was setup on this site, so those of us who have players that don`t cut the mustard no whats what? Any one else?

Macrovision cannot be disabled on the box itself, but external macrovision removes can be bought from your local Maplin for example. These cost round about £40 and also let you tape Sky Box Office movies if you have it.

Definatley not RCE as I have a copy and it plays fine.

Just Got Gladiator Disc 2 That Works

It seems that as I have been on the blower to tesco and wharfdale that many times, they have sent me out 2 copies of the Gladiator Disc 2 that actually works in my Wharfy. I havn`t sent my other one away yet, but sure enough it`s going, hey it`s freepost! and I shall gladly sit back and enjoy all three copies of the extras. Horagh for Tesco and Wharfie.

DVD Drive for PC

This probably me being thick, but I have recently got my hands on one of the above, stuck it in my PC, chucked in a disc and why doesn`t it play. Do you need some software for this to happen.

May I remind everyone out there, that for years it has been possible to purchase video`s from the US. (What the F**K is the difference because it`s on a F**KING disc). The suits should F**K right off.

If i have a first model Wharfdale and get it upgraded with the latest firmware, do i still user the 0,1,2,3 hack or do i use that of the 750s.

For all your information, Tesco have said that it will definatley not play the disc and they are going to speak to Wharfdale about a solution. They are willing to keep your details on file and come back to you with an answer (possible upgrade) when and if they get one.

The second disc in the Gladiator also makes a useful drinks coaster, especialy if you own a Wharfdale like me. Why don`t we start are own thread off of `Useful things to do with the Second Gladiator disc"

What is it with DVD Players & Software, what a load of w***. Isn`t it about time those muppets who design the discs and those toscas who build the players got there fecking heads together and sort out this situation with incompatibiltys, before they do serious damage to the format. A***Holes!!!!

DTS - Dolby Digital, Wharfdale 750

Could someone please clear this up for me. I own a Wharfdale 750, purchased in early summer this year. The player has a Dolby Digitial Logo (Not a logo saying DTS) and a LED underneath it. Is my player DTS capable or not ? All reviews I have read say it needs a DTS logo is this a Dolby Digital logo or not ?

Any Help, Muchly Appreciated ?

I recently read an article in the national press about a guy who has been buying CD`s from the states for years now without any problems. But recently it appears cutoms have been opening his packages and forcing him to pay some fee to do with postage. I have heard many stories about duty to be paid this side also. Has anyone out there ever had to pay any fees other than the initial purchase cost? Or is this just an Urban Legend!
