Gladiator R2 Disc 2 problems

stephen harris (Competent) posted this on Monday, 20th November 2000, 18:41

Just recieved my copy of gladiator R2, the movie plays fine, but the second disc, with the extras, won`t.
The disc plays fine in my PC DVD-ROM drive.
The fault seems to be the same as that reported for JAWS - the initial Universal logo comes up then everything freezes. the only way I can recover is to switch off, switch on again and eject the disc before it starts.
I`ve got a Wharfedale 750, which will plays Jaws OK
Would it be worth contacting Tescos ?

HELP !!

I had similar pros with my Alba 103, which I recently punted and replaced
with the spankingly gorgeous Sony DVP 735, there is no subsitute for quality, it`s the difference between knowing a disc will play and hoping a disc will play.

Toshiba & Hitachi `bow down and kiss the brushed aluminium casing of the player who is king, Sony 735` the Russell Crowe of DVD players.

actually alot of writer`s believe Russel Crows performance apart from the action scene`s was a bit wooden:P

But you are right Sir the 735 is an excellent player and with Hitachi`s 705 going on sale for around 350, expect the 735`s price to drop for xmas.

I will not bow down though!
I would gladly meet you on the Battlefield!
and with honour and courage I the 505 would prevail:P

HITACHI 505 ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BITE ME SONY!!!!!!!!!!:P

Wish I had come to this forum first! Just posted the same message on the general forum. I think you should give Tesco`s a call.

Good luck.

What is it with DVD Players & Software, what a load of w***. Isn`t it about time those muppets who design the discs and those toscas who build the players got there fecking heads together and sort out this situation with incompatibiltys, before they do serious damage to the format. A***Holes!!!!

For all your information, Tesco have said that it will definatley not play the disc and they are going to speak to Wharfdale about a solution. They are willing to keep your details on file and come back to you with an answer (possible upgrade) when and if they get one.

The second disc in the Gladiator also makes a useful drinks coaster, especialy if you own a Wharfdale like me. Why don`t we start are own thread off of `Useful things to do with the Second Gladiator disc"
