RE: Ski Boots - Home or Abroad...

Worth speaking to these guys:

www.profeet.co.uk

There is an advantage to buying in at the resort as you can take them back in for adjustments after a day on the slopes. Often worth it. The sacrafice you make is there is less choice of boot in the resorts, but they will have good stuff, just less of it.

Its a tough choice though, buying at the resort you will get advice from someone who probably skis every day, staff here may ski twice a year.

Also, worry far more about the right type and fit of boot than the price :)

LG aren`t the best brand to go for. I was considering one before I really looked into it, but was quickly put off. The Samsung might be a better bet.

Is that a general thing or specific to this model? The reviews all seem to be very good.

RE: Dr 42%er?

Splendid!

While I`m here, is a TV capable of taking 24fps 1080p important? I see the LG does even though its 768 (upscales or something does it?) or can all 768 sets do 24fps?

RE: Dr 42%er?

Nice one! Thanks for that.

Currys had it for £599 and Dixons £450 or something. Seems a good buy.

Im very well thank you, good to hear you are also.

I will see how it gets on on the grouptest on Thursday then buy one me thinks.

I trust the Van is still ok?

Cheers! :)

Dr 42%er?

Hello to you and I trust all is well?

I remember that you helped me out with a test in What Hi Fi many moons ago and wondered if youhad Januarys editition and if the test of the LG 32 LB75 LCD TV was a full test or a small one. I know they plan a 32` group test in the coming edition and I belive its tested again then but thought I would ask anway.

Trying to decide which one to buy between the LG or the Samsung LE32R87/88. Unless you think the Panasonic is worth an extra few hundred.

What it for TV and 360 use.

How is business anyway?

Cheers! :)

Any one with knowledge of HD LCD TV`s and Gaming?

Please check my thread in Gaming Forum. (LCD TV or Monitor for Xbox 360).

Might buy one today so any advice gratfully recived!

Cheers! :)

RE: LCD TV or Monitor for XBOX 360??

Seen the Samsung Pebble 19` SM932MW on ebuyer for £194. Have heard its best to match the resoloution as near as possible. This one is 1440x900.

What is the Xbox 360 and does it acctually matter?

There is a Samsung Sycmaster, 22` with 1680x1050 for £45 more. Worth it is it??

RE: LCD TV or Monitor for XBOX 360??

Thanks everyone, I think i`m understanding it better now.

My 360 is an Arcade (Has HDMI and the newer benQ drive and 175w power brick, 65nm chip I hear, still think is dam noisy mind).

So any LCD with HDMI will be right, just the more I spend the better the quality I guess?

Cheers :)

RE: LCD TV or Monitor for XBOX 360??

So do i want a monitor or a TV? If a TV, should it be HD with HDMI or is that not needed to get the best out of the 360? :)

LCD TV or Monitor for XBOX 360??

Got a 360 but a standard CRT TV and am struggling to see much detail (Fifa).

Dont want to buy a replacement HD TV for my main CRT just yet so what are my options for a display just for the XBOX 360. Must have sound and be cheap!!

Was thinking 19` wide would be big enough then it can have its own room etc but I`m confused about what a monitor is and HD?

Any advice will be great!

Cheers :)

Nick

RE: NTL 20MB?

Probably would be. Just I have sky and dont want to lose it, never use my house phone and have a business mobile, so all i really need is the broadband and i think ten quid is about as cheap as it gets, via cable anyway.... :)

RE: NTL 20MB?

Dont know anything about 20MB but they have given me the `mid` connection or `medium` (not sure) for £10 a month for a year as I was going to leave cos they kept over billing me.....

RE: Sky Broadband??

I had seen your post, thought I would see if anyone else had any dealings.....

I complained today about the billing problems and was given a firther 12 months at £10 a month so will stick with that as its cheap and via cable....

We shall see if they bill it right this time!

Cheers for the replies :)

Sky Broadband??

Right, finally had enough of current supplier overcharging me every month since they changed hands, even though i keep telling them.

Is Sky broadband any good? I only surf the net and get email so i dont need more than 2mb.

Any one goy Sky?

Cheers

RE: Need a football team name, any ideas?

Sporting Rejects is winning so far i think. All the `camp` ones are no good as are the silly ones, I have got to turn up and face the opposition!

a few more will be good tho!

Need a football team name, any ideas?

Its for a 6 a side team, something funny would be good but anythings that sounds ok will do. We are an East London bunch. Remember its a real team not a fantasy one so we actually have to turn up and face the opposition!

Searched a bit on here found `Your Mum`s Athletic` which was funny. Would be good if anyone can come up woth one with one of these in `Real`, `Inter`, `Kiev` `United` `Athletic` and so on.....

Thanks for your help!!

RE: West Ham being reported for anti-semitic chants

As a life long hammers fan I have heard the song at every game we have played the spuds. It is an pretty old song.

No idea why its being made a big deal of this year over any other, apart from the fact we are going down and a target for all sorts of press stories.

People say that the term `Yido` is not very nice, but Spurs fans call themselves that and thier own players. That seems to be fine by the players, the fans, and the club.

I dont know how many spurs fans are Jewish, yes its not the friendliest of songs, but i wonder how many spuds fans really give a monkeys about it?

Another example of people in the country with nothing better to do :)

RE: People parking on my drive. Help. Update.

I would still call the Police (not 999 of course, just the local shop) and see what they suggest. Tell them it is such a problem you are worried things could turn ugly.

It worked for us :)

Im sure they would rather have a word than risk picking up the pieces afterwards. They are there to help, just need to know about it first :)

Worth at least a phone call surely?

i doubt it!

Not even if they were aware that there maybe some trouble? Would they really just ignore the situation or would they at least come and have a word?

RE: People parking on my drive. Help.

Have not read the whole thread so sorry if this has been said.

Ask the Police if they can ticket the car. Someone once blocked our drive way. We knew which house but they would not answer. Called the Police and they came and put a ticket on it. The owner was not best pleased but never parked in the way again.

Makes me wonder if the Police are allowed to ticket for certain things.

Sometimes telling the Police that you are worried you may have to take it into your own hands may help them to act. Im sure they are able to, just need a good reason :)

Maybe markssparks knows? :)

RE: SKY+ fan noise?

Indeed, as i suspected. It was intermitent before.

Any one know why fitting a new hard drive makes the fan run all the time?

Cheers all! :)

RE: SKY+ fan noise?

I`ll give that a try later, thanks.

Are you saying that you know for sure the fan is not supposed to be on all the time and that putting in the new hard drive has effected it?

thanks :)

RE: SKY+ fan noise?

Didnt change anything :(

Anyone got any other ideas? :)

RE: SKY+ fan noise?

I switch it off at night now as its too loud, have not unplugged it though.......shall try it and see.......

Cheers for the idea :)

SKY+ fan noise?

The fan (i think) in my Sky+ box used to come on every hour or so for about 20 mins. Just replaced the hard drive and now it is always on, or at least there is always a noise which sounds like a fan.

Is this normal for the fan to run constant, and why would it change after putting in a new hard drive? I find it annoying when watching TV at night when the volume is not high.

Anyone else have this problem? :)

I like the Samsung LE32R74BD. That is in your price range.

Thanks. Have you seen any football on one at all? From what i can see 8ms refresh rates seems common, is that high enough? and do the figures for dynamic contrast really matter? i have seen some with 800-1 for £1,000 and some cheaper sets with 6000-1 and so on.....

Am i correct that the refresh rate is important for sport?

Cheers Doc! Yes it is the i-deck proper for 79.99! :) :)

Doctor 42%er

Happy new year to you :)

Can you recomend a 32inch LCD High Def TV for up to £800?

Father`s TV just blew up and i thought you may know whats best to get. They will need it for both picture and sound and do watch a fair bit of football.

I know many people ask you for stuff so i am grateful if you can advise.

Also, I got an ipod for crimbo and want a decent speaker dock for the house, i see you like the Monitor i-deck? 79.99 from amazon, seems worth it?

Many Thanks!!

Nick

RE: fog lights

Quote:
They`re more for other people to see you

That`s correct. Fog lights are to help other road user to see you when there is dense fog or poor visablity.

They are very bright, but not meant to pierce the fog in the way xenon headlights are designed to for example.

One reason i wish people would turn the fog lights off when its not foggy!
