People parking on my drive. Help.

The original 42pcenter MD (Elite) posted this on Monday, 15th January 2007, 10:31

At my flat I have a private parking space. It belongs to me and is on my deeds. People keep parking in it. My notes have gone from polite to snotty. Last night I rang the bell (half midnight) on the flat that i believe the vehicle was visiting. (it is always them) No answer. In my note last night I have put forward the idea that maybe a clamp would be the way forward if they can not change their ways. Legally, what would I have to do to do this, but leave myself on the right side of the law.

I leave my recycling box in my parking space. Generally, if theres anything in your space, people are too lazy to get out of their cars and move it or if they do run over it revel in the satisfaction of f***ing their car up.

My uncle lived near a school and was fed up with people parking on the grass verge outside his house, so he left a few bigish pointy stones on it. People still parked there every so often, but the scraping noise it made more than justified it.

So, maybe, if you have no luck and its YOUR parking space, leave a dark, pointy rock in the middle of it when you go out. If they do park there at least you will be able to follow the trail of oil back to their house and kick their windows in.

In similar situations, I know of people using removable lockable posts to block the space when they`re not using it - probably costs quite a bit to purchase and install, but worth it for your peace of mind. You`re absolutely certain the parking space is your land and not actually owned by your flats` Management Company, in which case you might need to talk to them first?

I just dont want the hassle of having to get out and move stuff to park in my space. We have shared bins so thats a no go. I would sink one of those liftable bollards in but once again it is hassle. This time I have parked over the end of my drive and left it there till I am ready to let them out. They will no doubt just drive over the flower bed as they do dot seem to give a f***. Just before christmas I got back at about 3am to find me blocked in. I woke them and made them move. They still dont learn though.

Northy, I have bought the flat and the space belong to me. As I say, it is on my deeds.

You can get motorised posts that go up and down at the press of a remote.
Get yourself one of them.
Might cost a bit like.
Then again,as a percentage of the cost of your flat,it`s probably tiny.
I have no doubt it would add to the resale value too.
Sort of gadget people love !

Bowfer, have had the person who owns the property (he rents it out I think) offer me about 4 grand for the space. I said no as I wanted a guaranteed space. I will look in to posts. Just don`t see why I should have the hassle and expense.

I agree you shouldn`t have to Doc,but that`s modern `f*** you` Britain for ya ! :(
Just imagine how good you`ll feel if/when you get one though.
Knowing it`ll annoy the hell out of the offenders will be worth every bean. 8)

Manual posts can be had for under £100
Fitting would cost about the same.

I know plenty of boys that have fitted `ground anchors` for their motorbikes.
Same principal.

If it helps,I typed `protect your parking space` into Yahoo and got several UK companies that do manual posts.

Only the Australian mob offer a remote control one though,so far.

Have found another that does not use electric but is remote. No prices or where you can buy it. Pricey no doubt. Looking at this one. http://www.parkingcontrol.co.uk/shop_posts-and-bollards.asp
Is the top one. Just finding out what construction my drive is for fitting.
