Blues Brothers 25th Anniversary Edition, Aug 30th 2005

Hi all

Just preordered this for £11.95 and im really looking forward to owning this finally on dvd. It contains two version on its own discs (1 disc per version). There is a theatrical version which is suposably 100% from when it was released and is stereo 2.0 and in widescreen. Then there is a extended version which ive always wanted to see and its in DD 5.1 and widescreen.

Cant wait to get it and turn the volume up and put it on the home cinema system in my living room. On my nice 28inch WS tv :)

Anyone else looking forward to this?

Oh and the theatrical version will have less compression as it gets a whole dvd to itself and should be very clear :) or so i`ve heard.

RE: E4 - free for ever (if you didn`t already know)

Freeview of course, im not paying for tv channels like sky or the other rubbish. I hate the policy of pay tv hence why i bought a freeview box. But to answer your question specifically, i dont have a top up tv compatable freeview box, its just the odinary ones, although good quality Pioneer one that is the second best freeview box you can get next to the sony one i think.

RE: E4 - free for ever (if you didn`t already know)

Yep i get E4 and E4+1 now on freeview which is nice except its going to be focused on Big Brother for a while and i really hate them type of shows. I wanted E4 for Friends and Hollyolks and some of the new us shows there showing. (new seasons of the us shows i mean compared to the old ones on channel 4.)

E4 - Channel 14
E4 + 1 - Channel 39
E4 Interactive - Channel 705 (has a big brother logo when u wait a min or two on this channel)

RE: GTA San Andreas for PC, Whats the cheapest place to pre-order it from?

Thats not the same game it is a different game. Think the GTR game is a racing game.

GTA San Andreas for PC, Whats the cheapest place to pre-order it from?

Play are doing it for £24.99 Just woundering if anywhere will be doing it cheaper?

RE: LOTR - Return Of The King (Extended 4 Disc version) £5.99

Im interested in buying this while its cheap but i need to know if it does ahave forced subtitles on. Even on a multiregion player. If someone can tell me they do or dont force them or can disable them i would be grateful.

Edit - Darn looks like CDWOW took it down off the site :( Well maybe it might come back. Did last time by looking up at this topic..

RE: Is GAME still doing 4 games + 99p for a new title?

Thanks.

I was thinking these games:

Ballistics
Flying Heros
Grand Prix Legends
and some other game.

Might pop over to the pound shop to see if they have any titles there, they usually do. Might be able to use one of them.

Is GAME still doing 4 games + 99p for a new title?

Looked on their website but couldnt find the deal. I have some games i dont want and was going to get rome total war on saturday. But its been awhile since i saw the deal and just woundering if its still on.

Also anyone know if they accept any game as long as its dvd boxed and is in good condition as in no scratches or owt and has manual? Because there not the best titles i was going to use for the deal but there as new as i played em once and that was it.

"Blue" jokes/comedy dvds?

My favourite comedians are eddie murphy, jimmy jones, chubby, kevin bloody wilson.

Whats yours?

RE: Eddie Murphy "Delirious" trivia question

Is this on dvd i looked at play.com and such but couldnt find it. I have EM Raw but the whole thing about "half" gets a bit boring as its very long.

RE: ChoicesDirect and Play.com Returns.

Emailed play.com about postage costs i get a email back later that day informing me they will refund the full postage costs as well. :) Well done Play.com

Top dvd suppliers i have used to date are

Choices Direct (x files and babylon 5 boxsets are the cheapest by far ANYWHERE)
Play.com have some terific bargains and there site is awsomely made and easy to use.
DVD.co.uk got a dvd from them and was quick as anything, would use again.
CDWOW got a few dvds from here, very good service.

RE: ChoicesDirect and Play.com Returns.

Just an update about both companies.

Play.com has sent me a email saying they are refunding me so im pleased with that, the say they can refund postage expenses but how do they how much i payed for costs. Might have to ring them up if they just refund the dvd price without the postage costs i incured.

Choices Direct: Have been great, they sent out the replacement about a week after i sent the faulty one to them and it arrived yesterday morning.

Top marks for both. :)

ST: Wrath of Khan Directors Edition Region 2

Got this a few days ago watched it and thought it was very grainy and not enhanced or cleaned up much as i thought it would have been as its a special directors edition.

Also it says its animorphic widescreen but i still have black bars on top and bottom, and i thought animorphic meant that it was enhanced so the picture fit the whole 16:9 widescreen tvs as in no black bars.

ChoicesDirect and Play.com Returns.

Bought middle of march a x files dvd box set season 4 (m lock) and when it arrived i wraped it up for brothers birthday, once he opened it he found that disc 1 and 3 were the same, i.e both disc 1. So phoned them up and told them and they said they can replace it, so I did the returns procedure and i posted it off in a huge padded envelope, A3 size i think. (bro got the envelope lol thats why it was big....

Anyway, On friday about afternoon time, i get a email saying they recieved it (phoned them in the morning and they said they never recieved it yet lol) so i was delighted it got there safetly. Also another email shortly after arrived saying replacement is posted and on its way to me. So all in all a good returns service and taking about a week in all to sort and get replacement sent to me. I will be however coming back here to inform you all if i actually get the replacement or not just to be sure that you know i got it ok or not.

Play.com

Right i ordered a dvd not long ago i recieved it but on chapter 15 it froze so i phoned them and they said yes we will be able to refund you for the faulty dvd. So i asked how to send them it and all that so i did the returns procedure as told to me and including a small note sying the problem. I sent it Thursday. I will post more when it happens. But they agreeing to refund is hopeful. Let you know more when i do.

Oh and they insisted on recorded delivery so i did that and all together it came to £1.75 ish. I hope they will refund me the postage costs as it was there fault i had to send it back cos of a faulty dvd not mine so why should i have to pay for delivery when there service was free delivery on dvds.

RE: Online Retailer

Decided to buy from dvd.co.uk as its only a pound a a bit more and dvd.co.uk looks more professional and experienced site that the others and also heard good things from ppl here on these forums.

RE: Online Retailer

Thanks alot for giving me a virus or trojan or somit called "TR/StartPage.ES" from that link. :(

The site i mentioned i want to know if is ok is

http://www.dvdsontheweb.co.uk/ProdDet.php?cd=PHE8201&c=dvd&source=find-DVD

Also is SelectDVDs.com a reliable E retailer? as its 30p difference from the other site price for the st 2 dvd i want.

http://www.selectdvds.com/dvds/PHE8201.asp

Online Retailer "Dvd`s on the Web" Any good?

Thinking of buying the star trek: wrath of khan from them as its £6.14. But woundering if there any good like play.com and cdwow sites i have used before.

Are there any hidden charges? Are there delivery service good and quick? Customer suport if dvd did not arrive, any good?

Basically can i buy it from them safely in the knowlage i will get it ok.

RE: In store sale at Game

How does the 4 games and buy a new game for 99p work. I mean can i pop over the pound shop in the town buy 4 games there and goto game and say theres the four games and a £1 and i want Rome TW. Will I get it or do they have to be modern games or do they have to be four different titles like could i buy 4 of the same game for pound each from pound shop and would Game accept them?

I would love to do this to get Rome TW. :)

RE: In store sale at Game

Was out in eldon square at Newcastle and went into Game there. I noticed a 2 sections of shelves with Sale written on the bars. I noticed some games going for £1.95 and so i picked up two games at these prices of £1.95 and they were Armed and Dangerous and Gladiator Sword of Vengeance. Installed A&D last night and it takes 4 gig to install the thing and takes awhile to install let me tell you. Had a quick go to see what it was like last night as well and seems it will be fun.

Eve was going for a fiver and pirates for £15 i think and Blackmirror and Moment of Silence was for £9.99 each.

Good time for sale as its my birthday today :) So thats why i treated myself :)

RE: Star Trek Movies Special/Director Editions (Region 1 or Region 2) differences?

I got the 1st one cos its real cheap. But the one i was hoping to get soon is the Directors cut of Wrath of Khan. I love the battle sequence in the nebula and the cat and mouse game they play against each other and also the cool miranda class ship :)

I heard it had not much added to it except a few lines of script and possiblty a scene or two. The Motion Picture was said to have alot done to it and the part i hope for to be redone is the wormhole sequence which sucked i thought. I think it was redone so im looking forward to that :) and the 5.1 surround. Just hope the back speakers gets some use out of the mix.

RE: X files season 9 boxset.....

Yes if u read the thing that u put the stickers on it says u get a free x files box to put all your dvd box sets in.

Btw did you know the M-lock dvd box sets are £23.99 from www.choicesdirect.com its the cheapest ive seen them and thats where i get them. I think play does them for ALOT more so im just letting you know incase you need to replace them.

X files seasons M lock box sets questions

My brother has started collection them and gets each season usually by birthday or xmas now, he has 1-3 seasons and getting 4th for his birthday from me.

I have borrowed 1-3 as he has seen them and i wanted to see some again as its been awhile since i saw them and nice to see them from the begining.

My questions are. Why is it not made into animorphic widescreen for the release of the box sets. My next questions is. Why has there not been a dolby digital 5.1 mix or dts as I thought it could really do with 5.1 surround as it would enhance the spooky mood of the show a heck of alot especially with all the cool action episodes.

Anyone know why these were not included in the box set releases and will they ever be enhanced this way in future x-files boxset releases like a special edition box set or ultimate box set edition where the 1-9 seasons are boxed together with widescreen and 5.1 surround. As if they were to get this treatment then i would advice my brother to get them versions from now on when released.

Also looking at season 1 1st disc I see it being very grainy and could have used some cleanup treatment. I wounder why they didn`t do this. Possibly to save money is realistic but x files was a major hit everywhere so i would have thought they would try there best to sell a x files with cleaning up the shows and giving them special treatment. Ah well.

So I wait here waiting for your replies why you think/know the above answers for my questions.

RE: Star Trek Movies Special/Director Editions (Region 1 or Region 2) differences?

As i said above in my first post. The ST1 Special Edition is going for £5.99 at www.play.com and some sites like CDWOW and Choices Direct have some of the other films SpecialEditions going for £6.99 or near that amount. So there really cheap these days .

Red Dwarf Series 5 £9.49 at CDWOW

Yep got this new for £9.49 with free postage from www.cdwow.com (or might be "co.uk")

Some place on the web (might be cdwow) that is doing the rest for £11.99 each so look out for them as well.

Babylon 5 Boxsets £16.99 @ Choices Direct

At www.choicesdirect.com website.

Not bad if your starting a Babylon 5 collection which i am soon.
