There is no hope

...left for mankind.
A Radio Times poll of the best comedies of the 21st Century
Lets leave aside for the minute that it's a poll for the 21st century by the Radio Times.

The best comedy of a century that's only 16 years old is
(X Factor pause)
Mrs Browns Boys.
Do me a ****ing favour.

I may have other issues to address here as going down the list there are 6 out of the 20 that I've never even heard of and whilst I can accept most of the remaining 14 as comedies, even if I think they're dross there is one in there that I am genuinely struggling to understand why anyone finds it funny.

Count Arthur Strong.
My jaw dragged on the ground when someone deemed it worthy of moving from radio to TV and I'm hoping that finding it 4th on this, or any other list other than a worst of, speaks more of the readership of said magazine than any implied quality.

There is, Heavens be praised, an off switch and a very persuasive argument for continuing to work nights.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

I posted this on fb, as ch4 and Peep Show posted this quote from Super Hans...

"People like Coldplay and voted for the Nazis. You can't trust people Jeremy."

I'm sure the episode of Friday Night Dinner was funnier than all the "best bits" of Mrs Brown's Boys.

Arthur Strong as you say was shockingly bad.

The list is odd though, there is quite a mix of good British off the wall stuff and what I'd call rubbish :)

Mrs Browns Boys (along with Citizen Khan) are two recent comedies that I find as funny as bread, and I mean a slice of bread not the comedy. Somebody must be liking them though.

Arthur Strong is amusing in places, I don't think it's in the same league as Mrs Browns Boys. Would I put it in a top 10 list? Maybe not.

But yeah, how can Friday Night Dinner not even make the list? Catastrophe should be on there too! If anything it shows how meaningless the list actually is.

It could be worse, My Family could have made the list.

Popularist votes.

Technically Spaced was still going in the 21st century and that's better than almost everything else on that list. I have a relative who likes Mrs Brown's Boys. He is not a sophisticated man...
