Aziz and Islam - along with a third man, Thomas Hagan - were convicted of the murder, and sentenced to life in prison.

So if Aziz and Islam are being pardoned, albeit one posthumously, what is happening or has already happened with Hagan?  No other information about him in that article at all...

I'm sure there's a better/more reliable source for information :)

That would explain why he wasn't pardoned...

I've always been against CP as vengeance is not the same as justice and, as already stated above, it's proven not to be a deterrent. Civilised societies should not be killing people.

My beef with the system is that life should mean exactly that and they should not be allowed any 'luxuries' whatsoever (TV, books, anything other than basic food, etc). Put a noose in their cell with them and if they choose to end it, that's down to them. Though I disagree with CP, rehabilitation is not an option for some crimes.

I'm pretty sure they don't get Netflix! I suspect that it's important for crimes where people do not get life, that having access to things like books and TV can help to rehabilitate them, so when they do go back out into society they are equipped to actually exist in it without reverting to crime.

And for people who are in there for life, I think there are two reasons to do it, firstly so they don't rot their brains in case they are innocent, and secondly because it most likely makes them a lot easier to manage.

I think there are examples of people who have murdered someone, often because of drugs, who have rehabilitated and then gone on to participate in outreach programmes that have helped to prevent other people falling into these situations and saving lives.

It is very difficult to have any sort of compassion for murderers, and I would be lying if I said I had any, so most of my views are based on how frequent injustice happens, and believing we should not become like the people we despise justifying it with being on the right side of morality.

Isn't one of the main reasons "life" isn't "life", because there would be nothing to stop you misbehaving once inside , so you could kill other inmates, guards etc, if you knew there was nothing worse they could to you, as you had no chance of getting out anyway.

Life very often mean life in the States and as bad as it seems to be in their prisons there seems to be some median line where there isn't a 24/7 riot with last man standing.
