Freeview failing during World Cup

Mikeonfreeserve (Elite) posted this on Sunday, 1st July 2018, 20:56

Freeview just stuttered to a halt again during the Denmark/ Croatia penalties.

It is a very hit and miss service lately.

Signal strength and quality were 100% each earlier today.

Not happy and who do you complain to?

I've been having the same problem with my Humax PVR on HD channels, but my TV itself has been fine, I think it's the really awful coax connectors I'm using as fiddling with them temporarily seems to help, so going to replace them with adapters and solderable F connectors.

But...

You may need a new ariel, apparently there is a free replacement programme for this if you do as a result of new changes depending on where you live and what the cause of needing one was...

The Freeview changes have been to the Com 7 and 8 multiplexes, pretty much taking out most of the HD channels unless you have a wideband aerial in certain areas. But the five main channels are all transmitting HD on another frequency, so shouldn’t be affected. BBC1 AND ITV1 should be fine. As long as the aerial upgrade is free, it’s worth it, but if you have Satellite or Cable, then you have to pay for it. When the next bit of mobile phone spectrum is sold, Com 7 and 8 will be switched off anyway.

Yeah I've had no end of trouble with Freeview on my Digital Stream box. In fact it's been rendered useless and I've had to unplug it. The box itself is fine but there's something wrong with the info their broadcasting via the EPG which is norking up these and other boxes and TV's. They won't accept any responsibility at Freeview so I'm stuck with a non-working box.

Gits.

that's interesting, i rarely get problems with freeview, but I don't watch it much,
but next door every now and again he gets like a pop up message about a problem (not very helpful sorry i forget the wording), and whether he says yes or no, it makes no difference, it can go hours or days without it happening, obviously it's mostly annoying if it happens when he's recording off it :(

he only had the aerial replaced within the last couple of months, so maybe the box is crap, it's a cheap one from tesco, although it's possibly the same as we have in the dining room which the girls have for ceebiebies, if that had had problems, I'm very sure I would have been informed, relentlessly ;)
