Either they've all realised they haven't got socks for work on Monday or ...

As someone has commented, they've successfully "de-gammoned their brand".

Not sure I'm happy with companies taking a political stance, as this depends very much on those at the top and the direction of the political wind.

Is this a political stance or a moral one? Political is a word that is usually used to justify a difference of opinion and differentiate it from something that is morally wrong.

I'm against companies supporting political parties, but I'm all for companies having morals and coming out against hatred, brutality, etc.

I'm happy with their stance on 'The knee' and that general direction but we all know if it was liable to seriously negatively affect their share price they'd probably still have a fence post as a suppository.

It's both.

Here's a question that is based on post: what if the prevailing moral compass shifts further right and companies make advertising decisions based on the perceived public mood?

Would you still welcome it?

This is what I mean.  At the moment the prevailing moral mood appears to be left of centre, so you'll be in favour for now.  But what if suddenly that shifts?

I think this is what I have a problem with, and I would expect you yourself as someone right of centre would do too, the idea that if you believe black people should be treated the same as white people, you must be left wing?

Replace black with many other types of people, etc, as appropriate.

These issues for me are not political, they are moral, if you paint them as political then you are deciding that one side of that spectrum is where good lies, and the other where bad lies.

I obviously have my own personal moral views, many of which I'm sure we share, and some of those we will each care about more than the other. I'm always happy when a company takes a stance based on morals I agree with, I'm not happy merely because they took "a" moral stance, it has to be inline with my own!

And I don't think this is a political move, it's probably a marketing move, and also a clever business decision, but I don't see how it's political because it's not trying to bring about change or get elected, it's just capitalising on peoples existing feelings to promote products.

Maybe they've done the right thing for the wrong reasons, that's never really bothered me that much though.
