What technological achievements can you realistically see happening in the next 50 years?

Pete-MK (Elite Donator) posted this on Monday, 20th February 2012, 00:10

In 1962, whatever country you lived in, could you have realistically envisioned that we would be carrying around in our pockets, small mobile devices that could do everything, from play 3D games, play full length movies, look up restraurants and book tables without actually having the speak to anyone? Oh, and they`d also be able to make wireless phone calls, but that`s neither here nor there.

On my desk right now, I have my HTC with a 2GB memory card, another 2x2GB cards we no longer have any use for.  A PSP with 4GB, and the PC by my knees has 1x1TB + 180GB in storage space...

50 years ago Yuri Gagarin had only just got back from floating around in space for a few hours. What the hell are we going to be doing in 2062?

I still want my hoverboard

3D porn haha, i still duck at certain scenes.

I dont know about in 50 years but I reckon we should be at a stage now where we can operate devices using eye movement alone, tracking eye movement on a keyboard using the front camera for txt input for example.

I think you`ll find that`s what Stephen Hawking and others like him use, but it`s still not financially viable to roll it out to the able-bodied public as yet.

50 years from now. What is a keyboard? What is a camera? Control by eye, it`s all done by thought?

Isn`t 3D porn called `a relationship` ?

No, because you can`t touch it.

Definitely the death of the remote control, being replaced by a combination of gesture and voice control, so we can all get truly fat and part of the couch.

Cars that drive themselves, and powered by something other than petrol. Aimed at people with 3D TVs and similar blu-ray collections to enemyonpc.

Safe nuclear power in the home.

Hover boards!

We will have landed a man on Mars.

Make it so!

Also, world peace.
