waaay back in 1988, i bought a 14" portable to use in my room at my parents house. I bought it for £150 (a lot of money back then, young feller-me-lad) with money I saved from working at Ashford Market every saturday when I was 15.

Now I`m married and nearly 30, that self same TV is still working, still has the same plug and fuse, and still has the old glue stains from the crappy dangermouse stickers I put on the side. All this, despite falling from a great height after the fixings on a wall bracket gave way at 3am in `93

Does anyone else have a piece of hardware that`s lasted as long as this?

Oldest bit of hardware I had (it died a few months ago) was a Hitachi VCR - I bought it with leftover holiday money back in 1993 and it kept going in PERFECT working order (inc superb recording picturein LP mode) until 3/4 months ago. I replaced it with a Toshiba 6-Head super-sw***y machine - which has just had to go into service ALREADY!!

A 1973 Bush 12 inch B & W portable which still functions perfectly adequately :)

JVC amp, Tensai speakers and a trusty Dual turntable that are around 19 years old. First hifi kit bought as a teenager.

Ferguson Videostar VCR from 1978... it needs a new drive belt if anyone out there has any spare parts

Got an old 14" TV that we used to use with the Atari ST. Cant remember how old it is. Remote stopped working along time ago... and was then lost but the TV itself is fine. Doesnt need the remote.

Only stopped using it because it doesnt have SCART.

Mitsubishi 14" colour TV bought around 1972. volume sliders crackle occasionally otherwise in perfect condition.
I also have a Yamaha tape deck, a Philips 450 CD player and a pair of Wharfedale speakers from the mid 70`s which are all in (almost) daily use.
P.

I still use my Atari 1040ST for Cubase (music sequencing) if that counts. As for a/v anything that is not in use AT THAT moment must be taken to the dump (WifeReg 102 paragraph B).

p.s. DangerMouse stickers at 15???

A Philips portable from the end of the eighites in black with the required red pinstripe that was on anything black in the eighites! Had to have new remote control but pictures and teletext absolutely the dogs bits still.

Sold a Hitachi Pro Logic telly to a mate last year that gave 6 years faultless service too.
