Cineworld 4dx (and their other ideas to get ppl to go to the flicks)

I was just having a look at cineworld's website and saw 4dx mentioned...

4DX - Be in the movie
Providing a revolutionary cinematic experience which stimulates all five senses, the 4DX includes high-tech motion seats and special effects including wind, fog, lightning, bubbles, water, rain and scents, in both 2D and 3D formats. These effects work in perfect synchronicity with the action on screen – creating the most unmissable and exhilarating cinematic experience yet.

4DX is widely considered to be the biggest innovation in cinematic technology to date. Developed in South Korea by the CJ conglomerate, a leader in the Asian entertainment industry, this amazing, new experience was warmly adopted by the big Hollywood Studios

sounds like the sort of things that's fun at Alton Towers etc for a 30min custom film, but a while feature film?

looks like it's only certain cinemas, and 3 films so far,
Magnificent Seven (remake), Deepwater Horizon, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them.

Sheffield also has VIP experience

It costs just £29 per person and the whole experience (excluding alcohol) is included in the price. The ViP lounge opens 45 minutes before the advertised start time as shown on your ticket. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the buffet and relax in our exclusive lounge prior to the start of their film. The concierge desk is open 1 hour before the film is due to start to deal with any inquiries.

i thought the cinema was getting expensive enough, but I guess depending on how many other VIPs there are and how good the food is, that could be ok value for money, and the luxury laz boy seats look nice :)

I remember an old colleague saw the Lord of the Rings films in Oz I think it was, and the cinema had arm chairs, and waiter service, said he couldn't imagine seeing a film that long any other way after that :)

not sure how I feel about that, the missus and I are firm believers that once the trailers start, your phone should be off, and you shouldn't speak or move from you seat until the end credits have finished.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

I know it's part of the 'experience', but whoever decided that popcorn should be a staple of any cinema visit was a f***ing idiot

and don't get me started on bloody nacho trays.

Crunching of ice, rustling of sweet bags, all annoyed me a lot, but talking and constant mobile phone checking has always been the worst offenders in recent years for me.

Not that I go anymore! For the above reasons (amongst others).

I forget who but I remember a famous director actually going on record that with what tech you can have in your house now he wouldn't pay to go to a local cinema.
