RE: Sky+ installation charge

I really wish Sky made just a receiver that could record 2 channels. The annoying thing is I have a harddisk recorder (Panasonic DMR-HS2) which revolutionised the way I watch telly. Have been toying around with the idea of going for Sky+ but really fear that my harddisk recorder will become redundant :/ . If they are going to make it so that Sky+ can record 2 channels whilst watching another one then I`m well and truly done for!!!!! Reason being I thought I could at least employ my harddisk recorder for that. Sky certainly know how to corner a market.

Panasonic DMR-HS2 - Upgrading, is it possible?

I`ve got a Panasonic DMR-HS2 (40gb HD + DVD-RAM) and just wondered, is it possible to upgrade the DVD drive part to play DVD-RW as well? Comes in handly when doing a practice run of creating DVD-Rs. Panasonic have a DVD Multi-drive that can record DVD-RAM, DVD-RW and DVD-R, and also CD-R, CD-RW.

RE: Why DVD-RAM & DVD-R has won the DVD recording war.

Amen to that. I`ve been using Panansonic DVD-RAM since January 2003 (should`ve been since November 2002 but Techtronics were low on stock so I had to wait) and I haven`t look back since, let alone in ANY direction of a DVD+RW/-RW recorder.

Power to the DVD-RAM format!!!!

RE: Panasonic DMR-HS2 - which DVD-Rs are best ????

Cheers spin. Will remember that if I ever come across another duff DVD-R. Incidently what DVD-Rs are the cheapest and best?

RE: Panasonic DMR-HS2 - Duff DVD-R stuck in unit - H E L P !!!!!

I`ve managed to get the duff DVD-R out by pressing EJECT serveral serveral serveral times (no joke!). There is no emergency eject feature on the Panasonic DMR-HS2. If you know of one please let me know.

Panasonic DMR-HS2 - Duff DVD-R stuck in unit - H E L P !!!!!

I placed a DVD-R into my DMR-HS2. The word "READ" came up on the display and the whole unit jammed up! Except of course for the Power button. Held that down for 10 secs to power the unit into STANDBY. Powered it back up again and the word "RECOVER" appeared on the display. Cannot get it to eject the duff DVD-R disc from my unit. It`s stuck fast!!!! Has anyone else had a problem like this? Is there a way to get the disc out of the unit???? Have tried holding down the eject button on the unit.

RE: dvd recorder widescreen signal Q.

Yeah, I have my connected by SCART to the Sky box. The Sky box is configured to 16:9 and there are settings on the HS2 that configure it to play to a 16:9 telly too. Look under "functions" and "setup".

RE: What did you think of THE TWO TOWERS then?

Better than the first. A fantastic crescendo in the story.
Battle sequences enjoyed best on the BIG screen.
Will have to buy a huge f*** off plasma screen to enjoy this when this comes out onto DVD.

Loved it.

SKY Remote for TV - Entered codes not working !!!

On my SKY Digi-box I`ve tried setting up the TV part of the remote control so that I can use it with my Samsung widescreen 28" telly, but it "no likey"! Has anyone else had this problem? I`ve also tried entering the codes for other tellys too (Eg. Goldstar, Grundig) but not all of them, still to no avail.

RE: DMR-E30 Picture Quality

Hold out and go for DMR-HS2. Check out WhatVideo`s reviews. A lot of them are pretty good. Panasonic have some of the best algorithms for MPEG video + they were one of the first manufacturers to bring out a DVD player.

RE: PANASONIC E-20 E30 DVD RECORDER WANTED Cash waiting

K,

I`m going to get one too. Hope it can be hacked for multi-region play.
Best get it brand new `cos of guarantees, refunds etc.

Try http://www.askdirect.co.uk or even http://www.techtronics.com

The latter of the above two having cheaper prices, plus they can probably hack it for you to be multi-region.

Panasonic EX21 and 128MB SD Card

I recently got a Panasonic EX21 DV Camcorder which claims to support all SD Cards. I also recently purcased a 128MB Sandisk SD Card (who`ve worked very closely with Panasonic), but the camcorder gives a CARD ERROR when trying to format it and crashes the camera when trying to take pictures 1200x900. Have contacted Panasonic but they`re too big to look out for the little guy.I think I need a firmware upgrade but don`t what else to do. This is a very recent camera. HELP !!!!

RE: DMR-E30? DVDR 880? ........Help?

Wharfedale 750 - Does not recognise DVD - HELP !!!!

I got a Wallace and Grommit R2 DVD with Wrong Trousers, A Great Day out etc. and tried playing it in my Wharfedale 750. It does nothing! Get the disc spinning symbol and nothing more.
Tried the same DVD on my PC and it worked. Tried OTHER DVDs in my collection R1, R2. They all work fine on the DVD player.

Has anyone come across this before? I think it`s a problem with the DVD itself, but would like to hear from other Wharfedale 750 users. Will it work on the 750S?

Does it play them?

RE: cheap amps from Richer Sounds

Sherwood make good amps. I`ve got the RD-6106R receiver amp, DTS & Dolby Digital. Celestion speakers in the front, Eltax at the back. Good bass.

BB.

RE: 5.1 hookup problem

On your amp for 5.1 you`ve got to have either an Optical, Digital Coax or 5 separate Analogue connections. Best option, ensure your DVD player has Optical or Coax output. Get an Amp from Richer Sounds (or next best value for money place, £199 or even less) which has Dolby 5.1 input connections. Wire up the 5 speakers to the amp. Sit back and enjoy the full flavour of Dolby 5.1.

Beware there are some old DVDs which are Dolby 2.0 (Eg. GoodFellas). Also ensure that the Audio setup is set to 5.1. I`ve found that a lot of R1 DVDs default to Dolby 2.0 even though 5.1 is available on them.

Hope this helps.
BB.

PS. (No laughs from here `cos we all have to start somewhere!).

RE: Connection Problems NO SOUND

I`ve got a Dolby DTS/5.1 amp. DVDs sound comes out fine, but VCDs don`t until I found the below:

Answer:
Check if there is a sound input selection on your DVD system. On my amp I have to switch the sound input to ANALOG when watching VCDs and OPTICAL (or COAX if connected) for DVDs.

Hope this helps.

RE: panasonic DMR E20 & PANASONIC DMR E30

Do you guys think a deal can be found at the Stuff LIVE 2002 exhibition?
I hope so. The Panny HS2 might be there!!!! You could possibly buy direct from Panasonic, no middle man. Plus there`ll be tonnes of other gadgets `n` stuff there too I believe. Smokin` credit card territory!!!!

Well then TRI what`s your verdict on it?

Guess What Panasonic have done - DVD Recorder Next Gen ????

I had feeling they`d do this. Currently available in the US, a DVD Recorder with a built in Hard Disk that can record up to 52 hours (yes 52hrs) of EP video. Wonder if it can play MP3s?

RE: Panasonic DMR-E20 Where can I buy one in the UKI?

Get an E20!! The E30 has some of the good options removed from it.
Eg. No DV connector for your camcorder on the E30 compared to the E20,

RE: Problems playing audio CDs and certain discs on Wharfedale 750S

Paulie,

I think your laser pick on your DVD 750s needs adjusting. Had a similar problem with a Minidisc deck. It could be a laser focusing problem.

RE: Wharfdale and SVCD`s - help !

I`m experimenting with CD-RWs on my Wharf 750S. I`ve managed to create SVCDs no problem, but have found that if the Bit-rate is not a Standard one, then the time counter goes funny, and sometimes even the playback. I``d also say it was the authoring, particularly if other SVCDs play okay on your system.

BB.

RE: DVD recorder. Confusion reigns!

Thanks mickl,

It`s most possible the Wharfy can play them.
Now all I need is a DVD Recorder that can record on DVD+RW and DVD-RAM.
