Panasonic DMR-HS2 - Duff DVD-R stuck in unit - H E L P !!!!!

BennyBoy (Competent) posted this on Tuesday, 11th February 2003, 23:25

I placed a DVD-R into my DMR-HS2. The word "READ" came up on the display and the whole unit jammed up! Except of course for the Power button. Held that down for 10 secs to power the unit into STANDBY. Powered it back up again and the word "RECOVER" appeared on the display. Cannot get it to eject the duff DVD-R disc from my unit. It`s stuck fast!!!! Has anyone else had a problem like this? Is there a way to get the disc out of the unit???? Have tried holding down the eject button on the unit.

I`ve managed to get the duff DVD-R out by pressing EJECT serveral serveral serveral times (no joke!). There is no emergency eject feature on the Panasonic DMR-HS2. If you know of one please let me know.

Cheers spin. Will remember that if I ever come across another duff DVD-R. Incidently what DVD-Rs are the cheapest and best?

I use the e-performance disk on my machine but like all other DVD-R disks they are in short supply.
I`ve tried a couple of the Datawrite Yellows and they have been ok just make sure you get some with a batch number of H02 and H04.

i know this is off topic but when i record a widescreen program on my hard drive, it is replayed in widescreen. but when i record to a dvd-r the picture is squashed. my sky is set to 16:9. am i doing something wrong?

I use the yellow Datarite ones, at £36.50 for 50, they`re pretty cheap and they play back on almost all DVD players and PS2`s, the purple Bulkpaq doesn`t play back on PS2`s and has slightly less compatibilty with standard players. The cheapest place I`ve found to buy them is www.bigpockets.co.uk

The DMR HS2 does not record in widescreen, it does say somewhere in the instruction manual.
