    Your Opinions and Comments

Watching this movie really makes you appreciate Marilyn Monroe, furthermore you will see why she is such a great hollywood icon and why she is mourned so much. Her loss, along with James Dean are some of the biggest losses Hollywood has suffered. You certainly cannot find talent like these folk nowadays. Back to the movie, a comedy classic in every sense. This movie is hilarious but it also maintains its realism, unlike the gross out and stupid comedies we get nowadays. The movie has a good plot, that provides entertainment. The movie is also part romance as Tony Curtis tries to woo Marilyn Monroe. These romantic moments are quite emotional and touching.

The story is about Joe (Tony Curtis) and Jerry (Jack Lemmon), 2 Musicians who are on the run from the mob and are forced to dress up as female musicians in a band, in order to hide. This as you can imagine, has some hilarious results. Also a member of this band, is lead singer Marilyn Monroe, who really bonds with these two GIRLS. More laughter then ensues when Tony Curtis poses as a millionaire to woo Marilyn.

The video quality is quite superb considering the movie is nearly 45 years old. There are some small dust specks and small amounts of graining but other than that, you have a clear, generally sharp and notably vibrant.

The soundtrack mainly consists of upbeat jazz tunes. The sound is a remastered DD 5.1 that is a treat to hear. some of the more musical scenes really come out well.

In the extras, viewers are treated to actor Tony Curtis` memories of the film and the production. This is an interview type featurette that is hosted by leonard maltin. This runs for just over 30 mins.
The second featurette consists of the memories of the girl band in the movie. The original cast all gather and speak of their experience. This is a short 15 min featurette.
The next featurette is a virtual hall, that consists of a montage of the cast and crews best moments. This conisists of both video footage and stills. This runs for about 15-20 mins.
There are trailers for this movie and other Billy Wilder Movies.

This is a must own for all film fans and is a real treasure of a dvd. Fantastically presented on an mgm special edition dvd. This marks one of Billy Wilders finest films.
