Review for Harry Hill's Best of TV Burp Gold 3

    10 / 10

I love Harry Hill. Everything about him makes me laugh. If a group of scientists were trying to create the ultimate comedian, Harry Hill is what they would come up with. From the gigantic collars, the glasses, to the bald head references, glove puppets, it's almost every comic cliché there is and instead of being corny it is all melded into a pot of pure genius. Never more is this seen in his multi awarding winning TV Burp.

This show consists of an hour of the best of this material. This includes looks at popular soaps Eastenders and Coronation Street and shows such as The X-Factor. Now, I do get the feeling that if I watch this in a few years the show will be badly dated (like watching a Have I Got News For You from 1998), but Hill is so infectious in his comedy that I doubt this will happen. His use of sight gags, puppets and just one of the brilliant one-liners throughout means that there is bound to be something here for you to enjoy. Also included (though not enough) is a few between scene outtakes such as Hill commenting that his only job is to build up a big enough audience for The X-Factor.

Extras on this disk include a behind the scenes featurette, which shows the process of creating the show from writing to rehearsal and then the filming. You do get the feeling that everyone involved really love the show and even the host of writers who don't seem to get the credit they deserve are happy to be involved and to work with Hill. The other two extras is a complete look at The K Factor, the spoof of X-Factor featuring knitted figures sent in by viewers and also a photogallery of all of the Knitted toys sent in.

Though I do wish there was more than the one hour of footage provided, Harry Hill's Best of TV Gold 3 is still one of the funniest shows on TV. It would be hard to find a better sketch show, but then to quote Hill 'What are the chances of that happening, eh?'
