Paris - The City of Love

Paris is one of the most romantic cities in the world, if not the most romantic city ever.

Paris is a favourite destination among honeymooners, not to mention couples who are looking for a great romantic getaway.

There are so many romantic things that you can do in Paris, whether or not it is Valentine's Day. Topping this list of romantic activities you can do in Paris is taking a stroll. Paris is filled with parks and gardens, like the Jardin du Luxembourg, the Jardin des Plantes or the Buttes au Chaumont, where you and your sweetie can amble about hand in hand or with your arms around each other, or just sit on a bench for some warm cuddling. A leisurely walk in the afternoon is lovely, and a stroll under the evening stars is always great. Whether your taste in gardens runs toward the classical and formal or to the modern and educational, you can take your pick of Paris's many parks and gardens.

Another great place for a walk with your sweetie is a museum. Paris is an old city filled with culture, and there are so many museums in there. Among the most notable of these museums is the Louvre, home of the famous Mona Lisa.

How about taking in the panoramic views of Paris from the top of the Eiffel Tower? The view of the city from the Eiffel Tower is so spectacular that it takes your breath away. And if you guys feel up to it, the Eiffel Tower is a great spot to ask for your lady's hand in marriage. Tom Cruise made his proposal to Katie Holmes there. You guys may not be Tom Cruise, but that should not stop you from popping the question to her at the Eiffel Tower. The breathtaking view might make her say yes.

Here is a top 5 of the best films set in Paris

Two Days In Paris - Julie Delpy's breezily hilarious feature follows French-born Marion (Delpy) and Jack (Adam Goldberg), her American boyfriend (of two years), on a two-day stop through Paris, where Marion has purchased a tiny apartment one floor up from her rowdy, eccentric parents. Just passing through after an Italian getaway, the lovebirds are unprepared for the many relationship tests soon thrown their way in the notoriously romantic city.

Paris, Je T'Aime - Eighteen different directors and a slew of indie actors come together for Paris, Je T'Aime, a cinematic homage to the City of Light. Each director presents his or her own short story set in a different Parisian quarter, each one featuring a different cast of characters. Maggie Gyllenhaal plays a lonely actress with a fondness for her hash dealer. Elijah Wood encounters a seductive vampire on a moonlit street. Steve Buscemi is a flustered tourist. Natalie Portman falls for a deaf Frenchmen.

An American In Paris - An American in Paris is one of the greatest of 1950s screen musicals. It's a happy collaboration between the grace and athleticism of Gene Kelly and colourful palette of Vincente Minnelli. An American G.I. lingers in Paris after the war to study painting and soon falls in love with Caron, an engaged mademoiselle, much to the chagrin of his romance-minded benefactress.

Paris - The City of Lights gets further illumination in this film from L'AUBERGE ESPAGNOL director Cedric Klapisch. The director, frequent collaborator Roman Duris, Juliette Binoche, and a host of France's finest actors create a film that celebrates the city with a number of interconnected narratives.

Before Sunset - In 1994, director Richard Linklater made Before Sunrise, a gorgeous poem of a movie about two strangers (played by Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy) wandering around Vienna, talking, and falling in love. Ten years later, Linklater, Hawke, and Delpy have returned with Before Sunset, which reunites the same characters after Hawke has written a book about that night. Delpy appears at the final book reading of his European tour; they have less than two hours before Hawke has to catch a flight to New York...and in that time, they walk around Paris, talk, and fall in love all over again.

Paris is due to be released onto DVD on February 2nd, courtesy of Optimum Releasing .
