The Virgil van Dijk saga has a couple of rumoured outcomes

1) last minute bid from a big club accepted, LIverpool rumours still going on for silly money

2) Southampton may be cutting of their nose to spite their face, but may want to make a point, after Fonte leaving last years, and other big players leaving the club. Like Fonte, VVD signed a long contract for big money recently. I think Southampton may want to prove a point, and start to
a) show big clubs we're not a selling club
b) show players we won't stand for tapping up etc.

So this leaves VVD and Saints in an interesting position, they may let him rot on the bench/training ground as a lesson to other players, but that does seem like an awful waste of money to make a point.

once transfer window is open let VVD play again, as if he wants to play for one of the big boys and go in the next transfer window, and Netherlands, he's going to want to pull his weight and play well.


What surprises me, is that he hasn't played since Vardy stamped on him 6 months or so ago, so he seems a risky purchase.

yay, so we're using the money from selling VVD for a replacement striker!?!? Guido Carrillo, no, I've never heard of him either, but he's signed a long contract, so at least we'll get a few quid when he goes to the big boys in a year or 2 :(
