Are Fabregas (and possibly Torres) disgraces?

Just wondering as Cristiano Ronaldo was vilified and called a disgrace to the club by non-utd fans for saying that he wanted a move to Real Madrid and for then refusing to make comments committing himself to Man Utd :D

In all seriousness i think its a bit different, for a start they are both spanish so guessing most spaniards would want to play for one of the big two? also they are with all respect both going to be making a huge (for me anyway) jump in class from their current club, not sure that was the case with ronaldo, also i would say that Man U "made" Ronaldo the player he is and while Wenger certainly has molded Fab liverpool bought the complete package with Torres and i wouldnt say he is a better player now that when they bought him, also think Fab came from the barca youth to begin with didnt he?

Yup, but Ronaldo came from Portugal and said in his first interview as a Man Utd player it was his dream to play for Real Madrid.

There were massive question marks about Torres when he went to Liverpool, which is why Barca and Madrid were not in for him at the price Liverpool were willing to pay. Utd had ran the rule aswell and had not been convinced at the price tag.

He scored 15goals in 40games in the season before he went to Liverpool and 13goals in 40games the season before that.  Basically it was always said he scored some great goals, but missed the easy chances.  Fair play though he just hit the ground running at Liverpool and proved it was a "gamble" worth taking.

He also was not in the first team for the national team, but was in the squad and had made a few appearances.

Fabregas forced a transfer out from Barcelona youth team for the money on offer and probably partly due to Wegner`s reputation for working with youth players.

Still he was at the club already and forced his way out.  He has since signed contracts that he would stay at Arsenal for however many years, but is now demanding a transfer.  Personally I see that as a good thing in ensuring the club gets money for him, like Ronaldo did, but then got slated.

With Milner going for £25-30million and Fabregas realistically compared to other transfers being worth £50million, it will be interesting how far he goes to get the transfer done, seen as Barca are saying they only have £30million to offer.

I thought Man Utd were only a man team and only won the title because of Ronaldo`s goals though

Compared to some other players, he`s given Arsenal a good few years to get back to the front, but they still haven`t quite managed it. It`s very sad as a fan to see him go, and a part of me hopes Wenger will force him to stay one more year and buy big in the summer, resulting in Arsenal winning everything and him never leaving.

But it`s hard to not sympathise with him, when all the fans feel the same level of frustration.

I don`t begrudge a player wanting to move back to their country and play for a club they always wanted to play for. Responses to Ronaldo are perhaps related to the time he spent at Man Utd and his childish petulance, combined with his diving antics.

It`s interesting being in the stands at the Emirates (and before that Highbury) when former teammates come back and play against Arsenal. The likes of Pires, Viera and of course Henry get incredibly warm receptions, yet Cole, Adebayor and Toure are another matter.

I guess the rules are pretty simple, put in time with your club, give your all, leave for pastures new but still wish the best for your former employers and their fans... good.

Leave under a cloud, slag off your teammates, bitch about how badly treated or paid you were after spending an entire season kissing your badge and pretending you were loyal... bad.

As for Torres, well you can`t blame anyone for wanting to leave Liverpool the way the ownership is at the moment.

Pretty accurate RJs but although I can`t speak for the reaction Toure got at the Emirates he got a very good reception from the away fans when we played them at the Middle Eastlands, even came down our end to say Ta.
Cesc I reckon is about 60/40 to stay. Barca aren`t offering enough (even though they`ve made no official offer yet) so I suspect it hinges on players being thrown into the deal.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

Actually I don`t think Toure is that hated at the Emirates, just from the fans I know (and those that sit near me Dad who is a season ticket holder), but perhaps that is because Adebayor is REALLY hated and they play in the same squad, nobody noticed Toure. :)

Don`t think the situations are quite the same though.  There`s quite a few players being talked about and all any of them say is wait until after the World Cup and we`ll see then.

I can see Gerrard, Fabregas going and Torres staying.

I`d just like to clarify that I`m not actually saying they are disgraces, I`m just saying that all the Ronaldo hype was a load of bollocks and he was vilified for something happens quite often and is happening now to great outrage.  Like RJS said it`s mainly because of his prior actions rather than what happened.

It was Euro championships year when all the Ronaldo leaving hype was aswell and he was saying he wouldn`t talk about his future until after the tournament the exact same way everyone else is now.

I remember I was ridiculed for saying that I didn`t believe he would go until the following season, as I was just ignoring the inevitable.  Got it right in the end though ;)

In Ronaldo`s case all his comments always came from Brazilian football websites bizarelly (big insiders in footabll) rather than coming out publicly and making any statements about leaving, but still he was scum and Utd fans would be idiots welcoming him back :s

As a big Gooner`s fan, i will be disapointed if Fab leaves. He certainly does not seem the sort be be money driven, and he has always gave 110% for the team.

Just wish the club / Wenger could have brought in some quality / tougher type players before now and really made a go at the League or get to a final these last few seasons.

Given the terrible injury list last season, its amazing Arsenal were atill in the title race with around 3 weeks to go. Just imagine what it could have been like had the team be fit and firing on all cylinders?

I can`t blame Fab for wanting to "better" himself by rejoing Barca, and i hope if he does get sold, the Aresnal accept no less than £50 million for him. Anything less and Barca have a bargain player who has yet to reach full potential in my opinion.

Fingers crossed he stays one more season, but all the best to him if he does get sold. Real pleasure to have watched him play in the red and white.

Aye, it was a joy to be there at Arsenal vs Barcelona and watch him score when they came back from 0-2 down. To carry on and lead the way he did, despite being injured, can`t ask for anymore.
