It's interesting from the point of view that I remember being a kid and hearing Public Enemy, Ice T, Run DMC, NWA, etc, and finding it amusing, was like watching a film, until Rodney King, me being an English middle class white guy, had no idea this was reality :(

Although saying that, I was listening to NWA the other day, and had to stop, i liked the sound, but some of the things they say about women and gay ppl :(

I've seen someone make a good point about that series, and that it didn't address this at all, but then got to give yourself a reason for a follow up series, right? :)

I wonder if the problem is some of the artists don't regret saying those things?

The program did avoid that, but sort of isn't about that side of things, I guess it's more a "puff piece" about how great/important the music is ;)

there is plenty of scope for another series, lots of artists who I would have expected to be mentioned weren't, but it was more about the movement as a whole.

I've seen recent Ice-T interviews where now he's a legitimate actor and business man he plays down the "gangsta" image and now says he was playing a role back then.

(I've seen him live rapping as Ice T and also Bodycount, he knows how to work the crowd and puts on a great show)

There's been a few contemporary artists who change the lyrics of some of their older songs live, or just don't sing them.
