Going back to the beginning would be a good thing.

We’ve had 20 mostly standalone features with increasing degrees of cheese, and then we’ve had five movies with a complete narrative and an arc for Bond.

I don’t want the cheese back, and I do like an ongoing narrative, but you can’t do Craig redux. One thing I do hate about modern spy movies is the tech. 3D displays and magic Hollywood computers all over the place.

I’d set Bond right back to the beginning, and have him live through real world events of the Cold War albeit with an entertaining twist. Have him recruited out of the Navy following a British submarine misadventure during the Cuban missile crisis, and follow his career all the way to Glasnost and the end of the Cold War. That’s 28 years of story. Give it the kind of cheek that Man from UNCLE movie had.

That's a bit like what Danny Boyle was going to do with Bond 25 before he left the project...

I can see why they wouldn't want to finish Craig's run by taking such a radical direction, but it could certainly work as the beginning of the next continuum.
