"Greek composer Vangelis, who was known for his celebrated film themes for Chariots of Fire and Blade Runner, has died at the age of 79."

Listened to those tracks just now, first time in ages. I'd forgotten how much they lent to those movies.

I was reading about him passing yesterday but there was some confusion with some websites reporting it as a hoax. Turns out it's true :(

Indeed, Chariots of Fire and Blade Runner are the big ones, but his score to the Oliver Stone's troubled 'Alexander' is just as grand and memorable IMO...

'The Drums of Gaugamela' is an absolute banger, as well.

He might not have composed many film scores, but his loss will be greatly felt by many.

I am far less familiar with his studio albums. Maybe I will sample some tonight.
