I think I'm most amazed by how affluent looking the people stealing these packages are.

All that work, cost and efort to make that package, when a nicely packaged bag of dog poo would have done the trick

PS....So these "thiefs" do not take all those phones, definitely a setup.

No, that's not a setup.  They can't even see the phones and throw the package away after a few 'farts'...

We will pay the price but we will not count the cost..

Waiting for somebody to replicate this using acid or some other horrific substance.

I still find it funny that they just leave packages on the doorstep over there.

'murica!

My guess is it's seen as a "victimless crime". There was an article saying how shops have guestimated how much gets stolen when ppl use self service checkouts, and how ppl now shoplift using them, who never would have shoplifted before, but it's easy to get away with now.

Similar people I guess realise they can patrol the neighbourhood, see something get dropped off, wait, and nab it, I suppose when you've done it the first time it gets easier?

The probably see it as "victimless" as you query Amazon why your parcel hasn't been delivered, it wasn't signed for, so they send another next day, no harm done, apart from prices are put up across the board to pay for losses :(

This is an alternative, which is nice, but a bit big brother scary:

Does the guy not need a signature of the owner before leaving?
Maybe the cat could be trained to do that

If i have an item that is being delivered and does not need a signature, I leave a written message taped on the outside my door....

"Parcel guy, Please remove message and put both message and parcel in the green bin next to you. Thanks".

Then when i arrive home its bin retrieval time

I've noticed a lot of Amazon deliveries now don't even ask for a signature, yes, including an £800 iPhone XR.

i suppose when you're paid for each drop you do in a day, you don't have time for that.

when we get a delivery on say a Sunday afternoon (and I don't have prime) he leaves the engine running, his car parked in middle of road, jumps out rings doorbell, gives me parcel says "amazon delivery" and runs back in his car, good job I don't live on a main road!
