Has anyone here downloaded their Facebook data?

As I perused my life in data, I was still relatively chill about all of it - until I clicked on the ‘contact info’ tab. Up came a huge list of people’s names and phone numbers. They were all contacts I’ve had on my phone – but not all of them are people I am Facebook friends with.

Keep meaning to do this. Can be gigabytes of info.

Even though I barely use facebook I bet they've tracked me all around the internet and know s*** loads about me.

Luckly for me everything I write on the internet is fake, so who cares about the data collected. For example you can now pay good money to buy photos to fake your perfect life on Instagram, and make your friends jealous

Here is my latest bought instagram photo, you can tell thats its real, well as real as a car in space, and I am having a good time

But if they are tracking where you go online, doesn't matter what you type. They can even track your physical whereabouts from your phone location info if this is available.

I'd like to download the data they have on me, but for that I'd need an account, and I don't want to sign up for one to see what they know about me. :/

Ah yes, I forgot they even track you without an account.

I do admire the people who do jobs like this, also those who work at the police special units that have to see things you can't un-see (google's safe search is the best thing ever!).

Facebook don't come off well in this video though, they sound very corporate and non-caring, not that this shocks me. :/

I worked in IT support for Probation a while ago, you're warned about things you may see/read, the details in the reports a probation officer has to write are horrific :(

it's a bit like the alcohol adverts - they want you to drink responsibly, rather than binge, realise you have a problem and give up all together.

I only use facebook for my car website, as the owners of the previous website could no longer afford to pay for it, and none of us wanted to contibute cash, so we all moved onto facebook for free.

Only downside is you cannot search previous answers so the same question comes up time and time again, like 'how do you reset the electric windows to close properly'. a common fault on our car.

As for being hooked on facebook, well that is up to the individual to watch their hours on line. And normal advertising is part and parcel of a 'free' service.
