CV - job issue!!

Juls (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 8th January 2009, 22:40

So the job of my dreams has been advertised and I really want to apply but only been in A&e 6 months............will it look bad on my CV?

Last job was for 4 years so its not like Ive job hopped.
The contact name is someone whom Ive actually spoken to recently about getting training into my area in A&E so Im hoping she will realise my interest is just being followed through rather than me having no `staying power`!

What do you guys and gals think?

Personally, I would go for it, especially if it is the job you really want. From my experience of interviewing for staff, I would look at the character of the person sat in front of me and their desire to progress. Don`t let (only) 6 months of A & E stop you from applying. I`m sure 6mths in A & E is like 12 months in any other job!! :D :D :D

Good luck!

It won`t look great, but I doubt it will be a deal clincher, plus the worst that could happen is you waste a few hours on application forms etc, which will be worth it even if it`s just for a chance in a job you really want.

Get involved.

Go for it, push that this was the job you always wanted & the fact the POC already knows that this was the area you wanted.

Just remember my CV consists of contracts aka jobs that my company supplied me for (I hope that makes sense) some were only weeks in length, others years. My best contract was only for a week, before moving to another site on a different contract for the same company & at the end of that one the original one week gig asked for me back.

I was in Dartford for about 4 years, commuting aside it was one of (if not) the best work experiences I ever had. I hated leaving GSK, it was only CC outsourcing\coupled with the commuting that made me give it up.

Go for it.

I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you've noticed.) You don't normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.

When fishermen catch dolphin-friendly tuna, how do they know which tuna are being friendly to dolphins?
