Bl**dy computers

Snaps (Elite) posted this on Sunday, 7th May 2006, 08:19

Just back online after a week without the Pooter.

Do bl**dy Dell install a timed self destruct in their machines. Two months out of warranty and the HDD goes t*ts up. Now I`ve bought a replacement the original wont even work as a second drive, it just hangs the machine.
My last resort is buying a caddy for it and trying to read it through the USB Otherwise there`s shed loads of stuff I`ve lost and some I wont even realise has gone till I need to access it in the weeks to come.

PLEASE don`t anybody mention the word "backup" as I wont be responsible for my actions.

Situation yesterday where I reset my router & then discovered I had lost the default password, couldnt get on the net or restore the bakup file to the router.

Problem sorted but had to restore the older OS partition from bickup, to get the "current" password back, as Firefox had overwritten it.

All data is held on other partition, so apart from a lot of cursing yesterday, no critical data loss & updates being reinstalled as I type.

Thank Gawd for Blackups.

I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you've noticed.) You don't normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.
Didn`t mention backups once.

Ho bl**dy Ho

No need to get your BACKUP.

Snaps, I think it`s best to go BACKUP the shop for another hard drive.

And there but for the grace..

Could have happened to anyone of us

Knowing how temperamental pesky pcs can be

Useless being wise after the event

Perhaps an acrostic would help?
