IMHO, no. Not at all. the video and pics should have been handed over to the proper authorities immediately where due process would have commenced.

Instead, the NotW have provided Al-quaeda recruitment camps with yet more photographic propoganda. It`s on a par with the faked pictures Piers morgan was peddling a few years ago. Although those pictures were indeed fake, the image they portrayed was enough to get some more people burning union flags in the street.

I can honestly say i`ve had enough of the f***ing tabloids and their sensationalist attention-grabbing. i know it`s how they get their money, but if one British soldier is killed as a result of this greed, they should be shut down forever.

Eh... haven`t we been makinga bit of a fuss the last few weeks about how important Freedom of the Press is?

Yes there will be undoubtedly horrible consequences from this for the troops in Iraq but lets blame those responsible, not those who exposed it *provided the tape is genuine*

The NotW, once they had the pictures and video, did want any newspaper would do and published them. News International isn`t in the business of bringing suspected criminals to justice, it`s in the business of selling copy and gaining viewing/readership figures. One really has to ask why the soldiers were in a position to beat Iraqi civilians and film themselves doing it rather than the morality of a rag like the NotW.

If the British service personnel are THAT dehumanised, THAT violent and THAT out of control, then it`s the responsibility of the commanding officers and the MoD to sort it out rather than Fleet Street.

I`ve just seen the footage and it`s fair to say the iraqis do get a good kicking. But not before they`ve tried their hardest to injure the troops by chucking large pieces of masonary at them.

What the soldiers did was wrong, no-one`s denying that (apart from some morons on some message boards I could mention - but I won`t) but that`s not what`s beiung debated. These actions were committed years ago, but publishing the pics and vid now will hurt and kill our troops today. They shouldn`t even be out there (under the lies with which they were initially sent) but this footage is going to put them at further risk

I heard the Iraqi students had thrown grenades & were stoning the compound, they were lucky they were`nt shot dead.

Look both ways before you cross the road, don`t run with scissors, don`t pull the dog`s tail, and *don`t throw stones, especially not at soldiers*. I think that about covers it.
