The Office (USA)

Just watched this, and my god it`s poor.

I don`t know if I`ve been spoilt by how good the UK version was, but the American version is just cringeworthy (and not in a good way). I can`t think of a single bit of the show that made me even raise a smile, never mind laugh.

Anyone else had the missfortune? It`s available in all the usual places if you fancy ruining your Easter holiday. :/

Watched it earlier and I did chuckle in a few places, but at the gags, not the performanaces. Things like the stapler in jelly.

If it was an original then I would have probably thought it was better, but being a remake of something that did very well here it has a lot to live up to and I dont think it can. Perhaps on the other side of the pond it will though.

Actually, I have just remembered that I did laugh at one point:

Yeah, i just watched it. Thought it was okay. Bit of a shame it was so much of a remake though, i was hoping that it might of tried some new material, but most of it was exactly the same except for the americanisation - the stapler was of course put in jello. ;)

I will be interested to see how the other episodes translate accross, and my fav bit had to be call from `Pack-man` the finchy character - `...does the carpet match the drapes?` :D

Given that it is a remake (that episode virtually is anyway) of one of the best British sitcoms of recent years, I went into this with very low expectations but was pleasantly surprised to find that the characters were well written and the whole thing was funny. The new Tim/Gareth relationship looks to be a good one and Steve Carell, whilst no Ricky Gervais, was very cringe worthy as `the boss`. It`s a gtood show and I hope it does well in the States.
