Toys R Us seem to be getting the odd one into stores every now and then, but it`s just luck if you`re there at the right time. In my branch (Derby) the one they had wasn`t on the shelf - I asked an assistant who told me they`d had one in that day.

Apparently it doesn`t come with the free copy of King Kong anymore.

According to the XBox forums most retailers seem to be expecting more in at the end of January, although apparently Game will still be only selling them via their website as they have so many back orders.

Cheers

I just bought mine from FAO SCHWARZ in New York. The assistant was very pleased i purchased 1 as until then, he didn`t know that they could be played in europe. He was now able to sell them to other interested Europeans like me.
I also only payed about £105 and got the remote and King Kong.Bargain!!!

How did you get around the plug problem. This may be me being daft but do you just use a converter.

I was going to get one of ebay as want one of the early region free models. It may stay region free for some time, but want to get my hands on one just in case. Or will they just have an update for the drive in the future to stop it being region free??

It can all get a bit confusing some times!!

The power pack that comes with the drive can accomodate voltage of 110v-240v.
All i did was plug in my 2pin cable (what PS2 uses) with a uk plug on the end and BINGO! There is a disc for you to run inside the 360 brfore starting the HD drive and that does it all. The only way it can update is if your connected to XBOX Live.

I bought the US one from this UK company..... SoftUK

Cost £20 more than the UK version but i dont think the UK one has the remote ( I may be wrong)

Got it delivered within 5 days over the festive season which i thought was good.

I was a bit wary at first....i made the order then got an e-mail thanking me for the order then nothing else, no tracking number or anything, but i e-mailed the company 3 days after the order and had a friendly e-mail saying that it was being delivered Special next day delivery.

It did and i am very happy with it, King Kong looks amazing in HD, i didn`t think i was going to notice much difference from my upscalling Oppo DVD player which is superb, but i do!

If you are desperate like i was , i would gladly pay the extra £20.

I`ve got an Oppo player aswell so sounds good to me, will grab one in a couple of months, if they will region lock it with an auto update from Xbox live doesn`t seem much point in rushing to get one.

Quick question what is the upscaling on normal dvds on the 360 like compared to the Oppo? I haven`t been near my HDTV in weeks to compare, because I`d never realised the 360 upscales so never even attempted watching dvds through it.

The upscaling on the 360 through component is quite good but not near the quality of the Oppo, i am using component so can only upscale to 576p, you need to use the VGA lead to upscale higher.....personally i dont think VGA is as good as component.

The may be a firmware upgrade later to improve through component.

So the 360 hd dvd add-on actually upscales dvds into 720p and 1080i through VGA?
Is there much difference upscaling via VGA than HDMI?
