Page 1 of THE DEAD ZONE- ANY GOOD???
DVDs & Films Forum
I read the book ages ago and I loved it.
I now see that the film has been reissued on DVD.
Is it worth my while ordering up?
RE: THE DEAD ZONE- ANY GOOD???
The films good, but the latest release of the film is in Pan and Scan, even though it is advertised on the case and reviewed as being in 1.85:1 ratio, widescreen collection. If your not bothered about it not being widescreen, then go ahead and order a copy.
Andy,
While I sympathise with your issue re: The Dead Zone, I think it`s unfair to say that all copies released are the same especially when the latest release is 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen. You may have received a disc from a dodgy batch in error.
My copy is anamorphic widescreen, and from the other posts onsite others have the same disc too. Weren`t you going to check it out further with Play or the label? :-)
Gangster, it`s a good film. It`s worth having if you can get it for a good price.

It`s a superb film - definately get it
An excellent film with a wonderfully under-played, melancholic performance from Mr Walken in the lead, I think he should`ve received at least an Oscar nomination for it. I haven`t seen the film for a good few years so might bag a copy myself, though I think it might be better value from another region?
It may well be quite a bit cheaper on import, though I don`t know what the quality is like (doubt it could be any worse than R2 though). You`d miss out on the audio commentary which I thought was a welcome bonus and the extensive production booklet as well. You pays your money... :-)

Thanks guys, I`ll be ordering it soon
RE: THE DEAD ZONE- ANY GOOD???
Judging by the way things are going over the pond I won`t be rewatching it so I can sleep at nights.
I remain in hope of sanity!!!!
