Computer Not Playing Multi Region?

TrueGrit (Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 17th October 2001, 17:12

Just found a cure for Win 98 and Win 95 limiting the use of alternative region DVD`s. If you have the problem you will know what I mean!
Let me know if you want to be emailed the fix.

I thought it was dependant on the firmware on the DVD drive, rather than the OS. Mind you, any info on drives that can be made multiregion would be appreciated, as I may have to buy one soon.

Yes I have tried this but won`t work on mine. Is it because of the DVD drive or something you can`t change on one of the pc cards. I have a Dell and although I can change 6 times, it will set itself on the last region selected. Does anyone know if I can change this without any problems

1. find exatly which model of drive you have
2. go to http://perso.club-internet.fr/farzeno/firmware/
and see if they have a hacked firmware for it :-)

I have looked on the site but don`t really know what I am doing. I don`t know which fix to download.

Barry,

I suggest you go to http://perso.club-internet.fr/farzeno/firmware/ click on utilities in the left hand menu bar and download either driveinfov 1.1 or mhsysstat v1.03 which will tell you the version of your DVD drive either RPC1 or 2. From there you can narrow down which "patch" you need and go from there. Or have you tried the Toshiba region change utility if you already know its RPC2.

Sorry to sound techie. If you want some more help email me at nedsraM.luaP[at]ten.mocwc and I`ll try and help if i can.
