Snake on a Plane, if you see this movie you`re stupid.

According to this `Reviewer`, who`s probably just been paid a handsome sum for talking out his arse. I`m all for other people opinions, and even if I don`t agree with them, i respect them (usually), this Person, however, is just plain insulting.

The long and the short of it is; we`re gullible mules who watch movies because they`re entertaining.....

Nope, no idea what this tit is on...

em.. did I just read the same article as you?... I found it well written, informatve and more importantly `spot on` ...

He`s not insulting bloggers like yourself, or indeed audiences who want to see Snakes on a Plane. He is simply pointing out that this idea will work once and will probably make a lot of money, but at the end of the day no-one wants a deluge of interactive, choose your own ending movies...

They want to see Snakes on a Plane in order to tell their friends that it`s ridiculous, even though a) that`s the only thing everyone seems to know about this movie, and b) that`s been the driving force behind its marketing campaign.

I would say that sentance sums up what the whole Snakes on a Plane ethos would appear to be... and I would certainly say that the terms "prick" and "dick" are suprisingly sensationalist from someone as literate as yourself.. not to mention undeserving..

I agree with him as well. This will really only work once, and everyone with any sense knows that this film is going to suck big-time. Only thing really saving it as that everyone already knows and so expectation shouldn`t really be that high...

Go that way, really fast. If something gets in your way, turn...

And those who dance will spin and turn,
And those who wait will wait no more,
And those who talk will hear the words,
And those who see will fade and die,
And those who laugh will surely fall,
And those who know will always feel their backs against the thin wall...

It`s already worked once with Eight Legged Freaks.

I just hate the fact he`s professing to know so much about the film,
, and in the same breath tells us he hasn`t seen it. Hypocrite.

The only purpose of Snakes on a Plane is to make its audience feel smarter than what it`s seeing. Which adds up, since that`s part of the reason people like reading the Internet.

Yup, I have my own blog, so everyone else is smarter than me. Cheers.

I understand where he`s coming from, but as I read it, what he`s saying is;

This film is stupid. The premise is stupid. The title is stupid, and they did 5 days of re-shoots to make it stupider. Why? Because they asked the stupid general public (who haven`t got a clue about anything) what they wanted, and the film-makers listened, damn them.

And the only reason anyone will go and see this film, is because they`re stupid, but this film is stupider, so those that see it will feel slightly better about their own intelligence.

I`ve slightly edited the first post (I was in a bad mood - sorry) but my Initial thoughts stay.

hmm he hasn`t reviewed Final Destination 3 on DVD then. Thought the choose who gets killed and who doesn`t smacks of desperation. You could sell the original Dragons Lair as a movie on that basis given its an animated movie with occasional decisions.
The problem with Snakes on a Plane is that its getting hyped up to the point where i suspect it`ll split audiences between "this cheese is past its sell by date" and those who will come out saying "its so bad its good, the ultimate in cheese" even if it does suck the proverbial.as they`ve already made their minds up as true believers.

Eight Legged Freaks was great.

The only reason people are taking note of this is because of all the hype created by people on the internet. Am sure it`l be stupid entertainment, and whats wrong with that.

You say pyscho like its a bad thing

I`d dismiss the article as a piece of typical cinematic elitism. Snakes On A Plane is probably going to be a completely one-off experience - the biggest in-joke in the movies. It`s snowballed from being a title announced on the web to a finished product shaped by the web community running with different ideas. It won`t happen again. The first idiot who tries to replicate it will crash and burn because he`ll listen to all those plausible AICN types who will do enthusiastic posts designed to pee all over the thing.

There is a genuine probability that web undercurrent will affect the way movies are made in much the same way that the Studios use steering groups at the moment. Whether that`s a good thing or a bad thing is too early to say, but it is wresting the arbiter-of-public-taste power card from the in-print critics and that can only be a good thing.

i thought they did that all the time? Well maybe not all the time, but they have special advance previews to 5 or 6 people, if they all hate the ending, they change it.

Kind of like in the Simpsons, Mel Gibson one I think!
